Cost of Dawnguard? (Microsoft points) : V

I've looked but can't seen to find this info: how many Microsoft points needed for Danwguard? I want to know if I need to buy some more for the DLC.

I'm in Canada if it makes any difference (I'm sure we'll end up paying more even though the dollar is at parity because we always end up getting screwed but I digress...).

In Canada retail only sells us at 1400 MS pts for $19.99 + tax and 2800pts for $39.99 + tax. In Ontario tax is 13%.
Microsoft is really screwing us over since we're at a lost of 200 ms pts, so buying this DLC forces us to get a 2800pts card.
Even when at times the Canadian dollar is higher than the USD we're at a lost.
With all the MS points I have ever bought I could have saved up to 10,000 ms pts. Dawnguard should have been priced at 1400 imo as to not screw over Canadians.

1600? I thought it was 1400. I am from Canada, and sure that was the price. Where I saw it, don't remember now. Darn, was planning to get a 1400 point card, not a 2800.

Dawnguard, the first game add-on for Skyrim. Dawnguard will be available for download for 1600 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE this summer.

Yeah I've read microsoft saying the price is that way because of shipping costs or some garbage like that. Huh didn't know that even buying MS points through xbox live with a credit card had shipping fees.....being digital and all. On PSN if I get $50 I get $50 dollars, and yes its 1600 MS. Points.

Buy it from Amazon if possible, you can buy downloadable codes. I'm not sure if they only take USD, but it's worth a try!

That sounds extremely unfair...

It reminds me of going to the carnival as a kid, and you could only buy the tickets in odd amounts - and the rides all required an even amount of tickets.

also couldn't u just buy it thru xboxlive like most ppl do instead of buying a card or is that tax still applied?

Canada has taxes? For MS points? That doesn't make sense. You're not buying the points. The points are Xbox Live's currency. You're converting your money into that. There shouldn't be a tax. There isn't one when I buy point cards. I live in Missouri though.

Also Microsoft points are not exchangeable. If you buy Microsoft pts card say a 1600 in the US you can't redeem it in Canada and vice versa. It's locked to your region regardless of accessing redeem code from my experience in the past, not sure if it has changed.

Hey, if you'd like the US to annex Canada so everyone's can pay the same for MS points, I'm sure it would love being the 51st state. Until then, they're two different countries that operate under two different rule sets regarding licensing, IP's, etc. You're comparing apples (US) to oranges (CAN). There's more to it than the value of one's dollar compared to the other. This complaint is one that I wish would go away.

80MS points = 1 dollar, anywhere in the world. Blame your country for selling 1400pt cards.

they dont have to lower the price.. just make sure canadians have 1600 microsoft points for sale at gaming stores. cuz not all of us have a credit card to buy stuff online like amazons or thru xbox live... Like me i had to buy the 2800 cuz i live in canada but i want dawnguard so i have to pay for it even though its extremely unfair.. Again not asking them to lower price but make sure that they have all amounts of microsoft points card thingie available so it wouldnt look like they try to rip us off just cuz we dont live in the US
