Dawnguard Question...

Post » Mon Jun 25, 2012 2:31 pm

Can you start the Dawnguard questline by directly finding the vampire castle and joining the vampires or do you have to join the Dawnguard and progress with them until some point when you're presented with the option to join the Volkihar? Would svck RP-wise If I had to join the Dawnguard with my "evil" character so I can later side with the vampires

I've heard you have to start out with the Dawnguard, but that's just hear say from unreliable sources. "IE: supposed beta testers"

To be honest, I heard that you go do a quest for the vampires before you are given the option to betray them and join the DG, not the other way around.

hm.... I guess I'm the only one, so I could be wrong

ANYWAY, OP, for RP reasons, you could say, at first, your character didn't know the DG was good, they just seemed like another faction and you wanted to check them out to find out wheather they were good or evil.

the only thing that is killing me is whether or not there are spears. I have heard from both ends that there is and there isn't. I just want to know so I can leave some allotted perk points to spend in the tree.

If they add spears, it will be in 1 handed perk tree, or you have to kill people with spears to get the perk points. Beth knows adding traditional perk trees this late in the game would be arbitrary.

You need two hands to use a spear

I don't see the reason to start a new thread for this question but, is Dawnguard going to get it's own forumlike SI did back when it dropped?

If so I think it would be interesting to see the beta tester forums (if they exist) as a reference point.

There are several different types of spears. Regular spears and throwing spears could be operated with one hand, pikes and lances would need 2 hands.

You're not going to get a solid answer, OP. Until Gstaff makes the announcement that Dawnguard is live and available for download, none of the people who know (the Beta Testers and Bethesda Staff) are able to say anything due to a legally binding NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement).

Tuesday really isn't that far away, and I'm sure that once the aforementioned announcement is made that the Spoilers Forums are going to be awash in fresh posts...

Just. Be. Patient.

Wait, did you really put the exact amount of stars as there are letters? In which case it's easy to decode your message, you know ... provided you're a real beta-tester.

Supposedly (from what I've gathered) you have to ask around town leading you to eventually hear about a group of Vampire Hunters (or something like that), you visit the DG HQ.
So you probably start off with talking to DG then later joining Harkon. Unless of course you find his daughter and she leads you to the Vampire Castle....so who knows we'll find out

Anyone up for pullin' an all-nighter to get Dawngaurd at midnight? Break out the Mountain Dew.
