Well thats it... i wanted to talk about the logic behind it. Does microsoft really think a 30 day head start on a expantion is really gona effect their console sales? PC is seperate. Releasing the DLC the same time on PC and Xbox are not going to effect each other. Its not the same however with Playstation.. I understand the Logic with getting a head start agaist their compeditor, but PC is seperate. Some say they had a hard time with porting dawngaurd to PC? That is total rubish. Did they just miraculously figure out what the problem was and it will take an extra 30 days to figure it out?
What's funny is that Microsoft wasted the money.
The entire point of these deals to skew the power rankings on a multiplat so that people with both a PS3 and an Xbox will get a particular console version and MAYBE a small handful of PC gamers will do the same.
Let's look at Skyrim before the deal:
PS3 - Absolutely the worst version of Skyrim. Crippling lag that got worse as you played a character on release, bugs exclusive to it, worst visuals, longest loading times, gets patches last either because of Sony certification or because Beth is the least familiar with it. Nobody in their right mind that owns both consoles would buy this unless they didn't know.
360 - Middle child. Nothing to say really. Only runs in 720P.
PC - I'll get hate for this, but the best with no logical argument to the contrary. Most control options, best visuals by a massive margin, 1080P or beyond for those with $1000 displays, more free content than there ever will be DLC in the form of mods, debug console for fixing quests / getting unstuck, best loading / waiting times, gets patches first (if you use the betas, which is hit or miss. Though the 1.6 beta was more stable than the final ...). Those with the option to get this will most likely get it for obvious reasons, especially if they aren't new to The Elder Scrolls (look at Morrowind or oblivion today, or even Fallout 3).
After MS gave Bethesda what must have been over a million dollars for such a high profile release
PS3 - Still the worst. And the people who are buying it who own both consoles (read: the uninformed) probably won't be aware of the exclusive month either. Great job Microsoft.
360 - Gets the official content a month earlier ... if you're willing to play the game at less than half the resolution, longer load times, far worse visual quality, less control options, longer wait and sleep times, no mod access, and no ability to get yourself out of rocks or fix a bugged quest. Some are, but is it a million+ dollars worth of people? Probably not.
PC - It's an Elder Scrolls game.
Then again, this deal was made before the game was even released. I wonder if Microsoft would make it again. Probably not. We'd better get SSAO and that enhanced water surface on PC in 1.7 to make up for this mess. The sooner these practices end the better off we all are. Shame on Microsoft and Sony for starting it, and shame on Bethesda for playing along.
