I was wondering, if the Skeleton Key is so important to how the Thieves Guild operates in Skyrim (giving luck and such) why was it basically not even connected to the Thieves Guild in Oblivion? In Oblivion you could keep it forever and the Guild wouldn't be affected but in Skyrim if you have it then Nocturnal can't guide the thieves hence why the Guild was in such bad shape.
