Hey all, so am I supposed to have this dll when I install the game? I tried the skyrim improve performance mod (d3d9.dll). I downloaded it and put it into my directory and it never asked me if im sure i want to replace it, so im assuming there was no d3d9 file to begin with. Is this supposed to be how it is, or does skyrim come with a d3d9.dll?

One question. Did you pirate it?

Not within the game file, no, but it does exist somewhere on your computer in which i wont say.

I believe it's extra. It often comes with ENB mods, as well. Basically, it tweaks aspects to the game, such as the graphics or other things.

It can be found in my System 32 folder, not sure about yours. Best not to go tinkering with that though.

No, Skyrim doesn't come with a d3d9.dll in its directory, and almost no games do.

Library mods like ENBSeries and FXAA Injector do supply these files as renderer extensions. However, DO NOT put them in your Windows directory, because that will break all sorts of things.

d3d9.dll is regularly included as part of injector graphics for Skyrim.

It's usually a file placed into the Skyrim folder and only affects Skyrim itself. In the case of ENBseries and FXAA mods, it's used for applying a variety of post-processes to enhance the game's visuals. Or in the case of the OP's mod, it's probably doing something to streamline the process. All it takes to get rid of it is to hit the "Delete" button and it doesn't mess anything up that I've seen.

What mith said. These types of injector mods take ~10 minutes to clean up at the most.

No. it's put there by a MOD you installed ... Common practice for certain types of mods ...
