Description (Vision):
No player home in Hjallmarch? So asking yourself, “Why bother to become Thane of Hjaalmarch?” Tired of push-over quest lines, and player homes that are no challenge to obtain? DovKroniid Redoubt may be a Mod for you!
DovKroniid Redoubt is a massive fortification on the border of Whiterun and Hjaalmarch holds. This former Imperial fortification guards the strategic caravan and trade route from Whiterun through the Labyrinthian Ruins complex and on to Morthal, Dawnstar and Solitude. The origins of the Redoubt are shrouded in the mysteries of the Dragon Wars of the Merethic Era. In the Dragon language, DovKroniid means “Conqueror of the Dragon Race,” And therefore may have been constructed on the site of an original residence of the great Nord heroes of that era, Hakon One-eye, Felldir the Old, or Gormlaith Golden-hilt.. This fortification was abandoned, like many in Skyrim during the Great War, and subsequently has fallen into a state of disrepair and been taken over by a strong bandit faction led by a figure calling himself The Bandit King. Bandits and deserters from the civil war have flocked to the station, making it a formidable obstacle to regional stability and trade. The Bandit King faction has erected an additional watch camp locating it where the main road from Whiterun meets the trade road into the Labyrinthian pass.
Quest:
The player must clear the caravan route to Morthal. This will involve clearing the bandits in the entire central Whiterun Hold region (Fort Greymoor, Redoran’s Retreat, Silent Moons Camp, Halted Stream Camp, and Dovkroniid Redoubt and its Advanced Camp). In addition, any threats in the exterior of the Labyrinthian must be dealt with so that merchant and Khajiit caravans may pass through the area unmolested.
DovKroniid Redoubt will not be an easy nut to crack. It is heavily recommended that mercenaries or multiple followers be procured to deal with this major bandit infestation.
Once the trade route is open and the redoubt has been conquered and held, the Manor house can be occupied by the player. After the player has become Thane of Hjaalmarch, it will be available for purchase as a player home and upgrades will be purchasable from a merchant agent in Morthal. A housecarl, Hildara, a powerful Altmer spell sword, will also be available.
There will be plenty of additional upgrades and surprises associated with this complex and its quest lines. Please don’t spoil the surprises in comments on this page (or at least, throw spoiler tags around it). Full discussion is facilitated at the Bethesda Skyrim TESV Forum thread at:
Pre Beta 0.0.0 [extremely limited release]COMPLETE
DovKroniid Advanced Camp complete and populated. Redoubt fortification navmeshed and in basic operational state.
Beta 0.0.1 [limited release][CURRENT Version]
Interiors of Jail, Headquarters / Merchant / Inn, and Manor House will NOT be accessible. This will incorporate fixes and changes suggested as a result of pre-beta feedback. It will be the basics of the complex- repaired, but without all upgrades.
Beta 0.1.1 [WIP]
Adds interiors, repaired with all upgrades. No additional NPCs. Obviously, this will be in stages. 0.1.1 will add the Manor , 0.1.2, the Headquarters / Merchant / Inn, and 0.1.3, the Jail.

General release 1.0
Entire fortification in a state of disrepair as taken over by the Bandit King and his band. First Basic Quest created. Trade / caravan route must be cleared as part of Quest .
General release 2.0
Adds levels of detail and complexity to Quest line and possible follow-on quests.

What this is not:
This is not an uber-house for players. There will be no spamables, mega- nerfers, army of mannequins, or every conceivable shrine/stone/blessing-ator on the premises. [Not that there’s anything wrong with that.]There will be what you would expect from a facility this large: a reasonable and complete blacksmith; and upgrades for crafting /alchemy / enchantment and on site merchant. A few Easter-Eggs may be scattered on the premises. Generally, I believe players don’t value what they don’t have to earn, so most if not all amenities will be available for a price – either in Septims, sweat, or blood. I am going with lore friendly where I can, given the fact that the second largest castle in Skyrim, has been left here-before unmentioned in Skyrim Lore sources. Believe me there are some absolutely amazing player home mods out there! They exceed what Bethesda has done with the game. My vision though is to create this place with a level of clutter and detail as if Bethesda had created it. That is a high enough goal.

Caveats / Troubleshooting:

This is a mod for stronger characters. LVL 10+ advised.
RE: Reported problems exiting from interiors to large modified exteriors. Recommended fix: for the Interior>Exterior memory issue. Gstaff (Bethesda Staff Member) recommended the following:
?Go to My Games/Skyrim and open up one of the .ini files (Unsure which one it is, either Skyrim or SkyrimPrefs. Gstaff only said 'skyrimcustom.ini' which doesn't exist).
?Under [General], look for iLargeIntRefCount. If you can't find it, create it.
?Change the value for the setting to this: iLargeIntRefCount=999999

Arwen Lothriel – An all around kick-[censored] mage. She is petite, but brings the firepower. Also essential. (not yet published)

Known Mod Conflicts:
None. However any that fool with the area just south of Labyrinthian or which edit the pass between Labyrinthian and the Whiterun road near Redoran’s Retreat will probably conflict with this.will obviously cause problems for my mod and vice-versa.
Note: I heavily modded the following cells / spaces: priority navmesh to Labyrithian (Beth started but didn’t finish it to Whiterun road)(-3,7)// Main DovKroniid Redoubt fortification: (-2,7) north walls; (-3,6)city gates and priority navmesh; (-2,6) center of fortification and manor house;(-1,6) eastern towers; (-2,5) barbican; (-1,5)south edge of towers// Priority navmesh road to DovKroniid Advanced Camp: (-3,5); (-3,4); (-2,4); (-3,3)// DovKroniid Advanced Camp (-3,2)//Completed Priority navmesh road connecting to Whiterun road (-3,1).

Thanks:
SLuckyD - quickly found the source of CTDs clustered around 0,0 to cell -2,2 (East of the hilltop east of the Advanced Camp) and suggested a fix that worked!!

Installation Requirements

Official Skyrim patch 1.6 or greater.



Installation - Steam Workshop (when available there)

Subscribe to the mod via the Workshop page, then use the game’s Skyrim launcher to allow it to download and install.
Make sure it's active (checked) in the Data Files menu.

Installation - Nexus Mod Manager

Use the "Download with Manager" button on the DovKroniid Redoubt page at Skyrim Nexus. The installer should take care of things from there.
Then go into the NMM and make sure the mod is activated, and checked as a plug-in on that tab.

Installation - Manual

Drop the The DovKroniid Redoubt_0_0_1.esp into your Data folder.
Activate (check) the mod in the Skyrim launcher Data Files menu or whatever management tool you prefer.

Uninstall

Manual - Remove the .esp file from the Data folder.
NMM – Uninstall button on the NMM
Steam - Steam users need to be sure they unsubscribe first or it will re-download next game session.
