So I walked into Riften...

...and an Imperial Courier comes running past me. The guard start attacking the imperial courier, and in response, Sapphire, Maul, and Hemming Black Briar all start attacking the guards. The trio managed to take out two of the guards before they were subdued (all are essential and can't die). They kept getting up and trying to fight the guards, but kept getting beat down. Well, not Hemming, he ended up running off somewhere.

Its this kind of random goofiness that keeps me coming back to Skyrim. :)

Oh, Riften. I once attacked Brynjolf (essential + can't receive damage), then climbed the well thing on the market and casually watched the whole town fight him. Good times.

That's awesome
I was in Whiterun, and on the way up to see what the Companions need done the two lower ranking companions ( the ones that are in a fist fight the first time you walk in ) started to attack me. Aela,Farkas, and Vilkas all pile out of Jorrvaskr and kill the two that turned on me. I expected the town guard to butt in but they never even noticed all the noise coming from Jorrvaskr.

I freaked out when I saw a dragon sitting on Honorhall. It did nothing just sat and stared like Paarthurnax does on the Throat of the World....it did nothing until I shot at it then it glitched away until I walked out of Riften.

Then I got the kids in the orphanage to kill the old lady by dropping an emerald (accident) and having the kids vs Grelod. Afterwords they cheered "yay" "we love you Dark Brotherhood" etc etc

Riften is one f'ed up place.

I am the Guild Master, but if I go in there, and some random thief is plundering my town? I kill him/her.

Also, when I entered the city, everyone was fighting because of a stupid idiot thief. One of the guards killed Aeirn (Mjoll's best bud). Mjoll was adventuring with me, and once seeing Aeirn get killed, she went into beserker mode. She started killing guards. I went up to her and engaged to talk. She told me "see what you have gotten me into?" I was like, WTF?

Haha, that's awesome! It's a bit like the fights-to-the-death that always occur in Riften market when you drop an item ...

My character was attacked by the Thalmor while on the road today. Being level 1, they were far too powerful for him ... So he ran! He ended up in Rorikstead, where the residents watched the Thalmor try to kill him. Gee, thanks for the help guys!

Last night I counted 14 guards attacking one thief in Riften. Plus the odd few surviving citizens. It always awes and amazes me how each time I come into Riften something's going down.

As for the Citizens of Riften, a few months ago while playing..and doing an odd job for the Thieves Guild, I was running out of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Elgrim%27s_Elixirs after getting caught pickpocketing more than needed. When I came out the other side, there were the guards and I sware to god every npc in town. (All on that little dock walkway) When the guards asked me to pay the fine blasts of magic, and blood and knives start flying..I dive into the water and head to the other side of the waterway, listening to the commotion and watching health bars of others die..Wondering what the hell just happend, I walk back over to the scene of the crime, to find everyone dead..I'm still confused. :ermm:

The first time I played Skyrim, I went mammoth tusk hunting for Ysolda. Obviously, at the time, I didn't know where a tusk was just lying around waiting for me to swipe it, so went straight to the source. You can probably imagine how well that ended up for a level 4 character.

After the first few tries straight up failed, I got the bright idea that Whiterun guards would obviously be a big help. After all, Oblivion guards were [censored] kamikaze specialists. Lo and behold, I found out the hard way that bethesda rewrote guards to be straight up pussies when a giant and two mammoths show up at their front door.

Guard #1: Haha, get him!

Guard #2: I'm getting out of here!

Really? A dragon drops out of the sky spewing fire and death, and you guys froth at the mouth clamoring to chop it into bit sized chunks, but "wild beasts" show up and you cower?

I was in Windhelm once when two elder dragons attacked within the city walls. I was thinking "WTF, can this even happen!!?!?", and as everyone ran inside (and the guard tried to fight), I lured the Dragons outside the walls and called for
Spoiler
Odahviing, and he started an air battle with the other dragons
