what happened to Shadowmere? : V

Today I was playing and I went into a dungeon and when I came out Shadowmere was gone. So usually after this happens I just quick travel somewhere and when I get to the location Shadowmere will be waiting for me, but this was not the case. Now shadowmere is completely gone and I have no idea how to get him back? and if I cant get him back is there anywhere else I can go to get me another permanent ride? Thanks.

Well, when he dies he respawns at the location of his death in 10 game days, but you don't know where he died. :confused:

I actually think he bugs out and despawns because I've never had him die by any creature. I'm the only one who's been able to kill him...reload.

Edit: You can buy a horse, but they are frail. Also,

you can get Frost (Maven's horse; almost as strong as Shadowmere) if you do the TG line.

I did that quest (Frost), but handed him over. Any chance I could get Frost back from somewhere...?

You don't need to do any TG stuff to get Frost, I had him on my last character and she bypassed the TG completely even when it came time to get Esbern out of the Ratway. All you have to do is get the quest from Louis Letrush in the Bee 'n' Barb.

There is a bug where Shadowmere will disappear forever. Ive had it happen twice, but now I just use the horse from Dawnguard. More reliable hah

I believe there is a speculated bug wherein if you summon Lucien LaChance Shadowmere will disappear forever. :confused:

The game eats the horses sometimes.

They don't die, they just disapear, for no reason. Frost disapeared. So he's either still were I left him, or he's dead or the game ate him.
Shadowmere dispeared for me too once. Never got her back.

The ressurecting were she died thing, never seen it happen. I don't think it works.

Basically, if your horse dispears, the most likely explanation is the game ate them. They ar'nt coming back.
You could bring them back on PC, probabely.
