I can't say anything about the game specifically, but Steam doesn't care where you live and that is the only form of DRM Skyrim has that I'm aware of.

Edit: I'm wrong. I forgot I run Steam through a proxy. I followed the terms and conditions of my contract with Steam and did not circumvent the region lock. You have to ask Valve for permission to transfer your games when you transfer countries.

where in China will you be living? My wife an i are moving there too from South Africa, and Hong Kong is an open port, no restrictions such as google blah blah etc... but if you are in mainland its locked down pretty well. And if they do have steam in mainland it will be censored to hell an monitored by the government. Otherwise goodluck :)

I always thought pc games and console games were region free ( exception being the Wii, but that doesn't impact skyrim)

unless you will be living in a "western compound" like some of the business' have there you mite have some problems connecting to the outside world. I would not worry about it though as it seems alot of our Chinese friends seem to find a way :), we will be living in Fei long, Hong Kong.

I have always wanted to live in another country mostly japan.

Anyway I read that the region thing only works for dvds and games should not get affected by it but there is a few games that are region locked.

Edit: plus you can buy diffrent region games from websites. Like japanese games and some of them work with the english 360.

Edit: this game is semi region free the game is locked in asia and japan. Then the english version can played in countried like mexico, canada, u.k., etc

HI, I used to live in US, and I bought Xbox 360 and Skyrim in the States. Now, I'm back in Japan with my console and the game. I still have my US account, and I can still download updates, most of on demand games, and DLCs on the day they releaces. I say bring your console with you just in case, because Chinese console might not allow you to use your Ireland account, but I'm not certain. I have my Japanese Xbox too but the game adds and market place are all Japanese exclusive. Usually every thing is only dubbed games and not all the DLCs are available. They won't let me create US account or let me access to US games/DLCs at all. But I'm guessing that China will be more less strict about this kind of stuff so it'll be fine as long as you have your account and the game from Ireland.

yeah i hear what you saying. i know china copyrite is a very grey area,i know only consoles you can by are chiped and games too.thats why you cant access xbox live without a console bought in hong kong or somewhere outside mainland. i will bring my console with me and hard drive.im worried the console will evenyually break(you know xbox") and il still want to be able to use my skyrim dlc from hard drive, and that will mean my hard drive will need to read from a chinese console...ala... my big problem. thanks for the input

Well he must be going there for family or business reasons as I personally don't want to go to China. I don't like bringing real world crap into the forums but I heard the Chinese government is oppressive and censors more crap than the US media. And Ireland to me is a more beautiful place. Tough that's just me.

People have their different reasons. Like me, when I went to US by myself from Japan, a lot if people asked me why I moved to the US.

im going there because my country steps on its people,no work, high cost of living etc. to work and teach
the china every westener knows is not the china that exists today, yes you hear alot of talk about human rites violations etc...while some are tru, many are exaggerated
it is a very modern place with more freedoms than you realise, just because something is different than what your used to does not mean its bad....
and i dare say any one who forms an opinion on a place without stepping foot there, and only relieing on there "western" media...is an idiot
though with the media today,i can understand people being VERY mislead on alot of topics,i understan because i also lived in america

Yeah, life is just like the Elder Scrolls. You make your own decision, evaluation, and opinion. If some don't understand you, so be it. Those people just don't see what you see.

I was just curious, thats all, because I don't know much about the place. The sad thing is, more often than not, the bad stuff about a place is the only thing that gets known.
