Playing on Master

Post » Wed Jul 04, 2012 7:52 pm

Thought about making a new character and play on Master.

I am thinking about being a female Imperial professing in two-handed weapons and light armor.

Any tips or ideas?

When you see enemy who doesn′t see you, do not sneak. Get the sprinting power attack as soon as possible and try to jalevin the enemy before it reacts. The 25% to kill instantly on standing power attack comes even earlier available. It can even insta - kill a giant , It′s a 1/4 roll chance.
Good for killing 2 enemies, you know. Rush in killing the first, then standing power attack to the friend whos thinking wtf. Usually cuts their head off.

Jus do whatever to keep stamina higher than 0. You can do powerattack with 1 stamina. Enchanting weapon with stamina absorb is suggsted.
With stamina absorb and being able to do standing power attack with 25% death chance, you can just do it til it′s HP is zero or the instant kill triggers. Two handed is best at this since you can instant - kill even when enemy is blocking

Just a question:

By fighting a Troll on Novice difficulty compared to Master Difficulty, by the end of the battle I will have gained more Exp, right?

Depends. If you don′t die, then yes.

It goes like diff lvlonly rises enemy dmg done to you, and their damage resistance. So they take longer to kill, but they kill you faster. So it kinda rises your heavy / light armor faster since you′re taking more damage.

The thing about master is that it lowers the user's damage output by .5(half) and raises enemy damage by 2.0(2xdamage) so you really have to be stingy in where you spend your perks, because unless you use exploits your in for a fight from the get-go. Being a Two-handed, light armor warrior wll be difficult because you willhave to remain mobile to not get knocked out, but eventually have to close to melee range to deal damage...this could lead to you getting annihilated a few times ;)

Your melee exp is determined by damage done, not swings made, so diffiulty doesn′t affect this. Enemies just take more hits.
Light / Heavy armor increases by you damage taken, so stronger enemies level up your armor faster.

So, diff lvl can′t be really used for training...

I gotta say that The best of my three characters the most ownage I′ve had was with my 2H, light armor Nord. It doesnt look as strong in the paper as it really is when playing.

It′s the one hit kill chance of 25%. Ok, 1H got this too, but ---> the fact than even when enemy is blocking you can cut through it with 2H. One. Hit. Kills.

Ok, with sweep I′ve taken 4 enemies with single hit. Civil war questline is perfect for this :)

depends, if you have the health and armor rating to back it up, you should be fine, but try level 1 in the first dungeon boss fight at Bleak Falls Barrow and tell me that isnt difficult :)

Of course that′s difficult :) That is difficult no matter what build if you′re lvl 1. And there′s no possibility for the instant kill perk either if lvl 1.

It would be so cool to use Sweep and cut the heads of five bandits in front of you with a single attack. But I guess this is not a splatter movie or Berserk manga.

Nope. I′m still exploring and trying to figure out the strongest possible builds for different situations. By trial and error. So I guess you could say I′m still a new player, heh :)

Thats cool, when you get a chance try a level 1 play-through on master, it will be quite the challenge! especially if you roll with two-handed and light armor ;)

I doubt more damage to your player will impact heavy armor XP in a positive way.

Anyways, you'll need smithing. If you use enchanting, you will become a demi-god though, even on master difficulty. You need to dodge a lot more, run from fights a lot more and generally pop more potions, cast more healing spells and also using the level-up instant-health refill. Being an imperial is a lot harder than being an argonian, breton or orc. Spell casters are ridiculously powerful even against a breton character, so watch out for them.

Smithing, yes. Enchanting, yes. I just don′t double - enchant anything. Would be too easy, just my personal thing. Anyways, the "dodge a lot more, run from fights a lot more and generally pop more potions, cast healing..etc" I don′t need.

Takes too long to switch from 2H to whatever and same backwards. a leaping 2H powerattack in the middle and a sweep right after that will kill/stagger whoever there is over 50% of time. No need to even use paralyze enchant.

I have to be a little more tactical

Magika just enough to cast muffle and stoneflesh. (With stoneflesh my armor rating cap is maxed)
With muffle I can sprint / walk closer without being detected.
Light armor weights nothing allowing faster movement (Perk)
Stamina drain on strike. If sweep hits 3 enemies, it′s 19 stamina x 3 with only stamina of 1 power attack used.
25% instant kill chance.
Master difficulty.
Stamina "only" 200 for sprinting and attacks that I miss (So I lose stamina absorb on attack)
Magika is very low, just to cast the two spells mentioned earlier. I think it′s about 140 magica.
All rest to health.
Skyforge for the lightest 2H weapon possible to allow fastest swings, smallest possible stamina cost with the good stagger chance.
Mages I kill with sprinting power attack. If you just press print and power attack, the enemy cold stagger has no effect once the sprint attack animation has been triggered. So I try to finish battles before they start.

Oh yea, edited, I′m lv 53 on Master

Edit #2 - With muffle, you can sprint closer before they hear you so you can always hit first. No sneak needed.
