The Forlorn Prophet

I was considering a build idea and needed some help on it. I was considering a Prophet type character, but wouldn't know where to focus his skills. I should explain what I mean by Prophet. Some people see Prophets as something more religious, where as I see a Prophet in an entirely different way.

I'll give a little bit of backstory to my name, Forlorn Prophet. I am Prophet whom seeks knowledge, whom travels a lonely journey to seek what is not known to man. I am not a Prophet of religion, I am a Prophet of Knowledge.

In Oblivion I created someone just called Prophet. And he studied in Ancient Aeylid ruins. But even then I didn't really know where to focus his skills and his abilties.

I know how to play the character, I want him to collect books and stories of legend, and maybe even collect some of the legendary items. Bretons have always been my favorite races, so he is a Breton.

But I don't know if I want to go again with another complete character built for complete combat.

Any suggestions?

Speech, which would be important to tell people about what he found and magical skills. I'd go with Alteration, conjuration and illusion as the three most important one's. Followed by restoration. In rare cases I would let him use a single handed mace, and preferably have him walk around in robes or alternatively light armor.

I would also train a bit in either archery or destruction magic, to help you catch wildlife. This shouldn't be a mayor combat skill and I wouldn't invest any perks in it, but you have to eat somehow.

I wish there were perks in soft skills. Like in Fallout New Vegas, there was Survability which was a soft skill on what the land could provide you and what you got out of it. But this sounds good as a build. I always find it funny, I get all whiney, say I'm tired of playing mages, but always go back to playing mages. lol.
