Go see a Shrine!
Go to a Museum!
Go talk to a smith about a dog!
Go ask about the Jarl's kids!
Go talk to a prisoner!
Go help a begger find his master!
etc. and etc.
Seriously? Unless I am playing a Dunmer, or someone into evil, I really don't want to have anything to do with Daedra.
First time I played I got tricked into several of these. At first i thought it was pretty cool, since in the past you actually had to find a shrine and ask for a Daedric quest. But now I know that many of these lead to doing things that I really don't want my character doing for role-play reasons, so I have to just pretend that the quests just aren't there.
This got me thinking about how many other things this game either tricks you into or gets you shoe-horned into without you really wanting to do it. It's almost like Bethesda sat down and thought, "well there is no reason to make these cool things if someone can skip it, so let's either force it on them or trick them into it." Well quite frankly it's getting old. I've already said many times here that I have never had to work so hard to role-play in a role-playing game, and it's so true.
I'm sorry Bethesda that I am not one of those that just wants to get a big sword and whack things with it, that I don't want to just do everything and be the leader of every faction just because I can. I like to put some thought into what and why my character does things and there is hardly any way to do that in this game.
Just try to make a very generic Nord warrior, an honorable guy with light armor and a sword and shield, just trying to do the right thing and be a hero when he can. And just see how long it takes before Skyrim takes you completely out of character. Very frustrating.
Anyone else finding playing any kind of organized role-play very difficult in the game?
