GTX 670 upgrade

Post » Sun Jul 08, 2012 4:33 am

Just upgraded to a GTX 670 from 2 x 6870's in crossfire and the overall experience in skyrim is much smoother. With the 6870's I used to get dips in fps in towns etc... and experienced limits with only having 1GB VRAM especially since the High res textures were released.

However with this new card with all settings on maximum the experience is buttery smooth. and never drops below 60fps and I no longer experience problems with big fps dips caused by the VRAM limit.

Just wanted to fill people in if anybody else was in a similar boat and thinking of upgrading.

If you ever start to experience stuttering/hiccuping in your framerate as the world streams in for you, see my thread below. I upgraded from a 5870 to a GTX 680, and had serious issues, despite uninstalling everything properly.
