Fellow PC Gamers...help

Post » Sun Jul 08, 2012 11:10 am

Hello forums, I recently received my new computer, however I also know next to nothing about computers and their operating systems etc.
Is there a kind soul who could let me know if my PC specs are good enough to run Skyrim.

Alienware M14X R2

3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3610QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.3GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)

12GB DDR3 at 1600MHz

14.0" High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight

2 GB DDR5 NVIDIA GeForceGT 650M using NVIDIA Optimus technology

750GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s

I am so sorry I am a newb, I have been on a console in my dorm for 2 years and a console back in highschool so I never had to "worry" about specs. Thanks in advance.

You're fine, I'm running a 2.4ghz with 4 gigs and I run circles around Skyrim on High...you, your comp won't even cough at Skyrim.

no you don't have a Quad Core, and thats just advertising your i7 "core" will do just fine.

You have enough computer to run Skyrim multiple times simultaneously, if that were possible, even on the highest settings. You're good to go for a long time yet. However, if you find you don't like the computer, I'm more than willing to offer you, say.... a hundred bucks for it!

I think all Intel i7 CPUs are quad core or more (ie 6 core).

BTW, quad core means that there are effectively 4 CPUs on one chip that can divide up tasks.

Intel i7 is six cores. The graphics card and RAM are also way over spec - whoever got you that computer paid a lot of money for it.

With those specs you can play on the highest settings and add a lot of texture mods that will make the game look 100x better.

Make sure your sound and video drivers are up to date and you should be good.

You'll be more than fine as long as the graphics drivers are up to date.

You should be able to load an ENB if you use one w/o SSAO (might be able to run with) and don't go overboard with INI tweaks like ugrids 7-9.
