ME3 Save System for Skyrim

Post » Sun Jul 08, 2012 11:43 pm

Personally i feel this game needs to have the same save system as mass effect 3 so you can switch between playthroughs and keep track of saves and which save has which character.

Been wishing they had done this since Morrowind.

Bah, I need to get a better PC so I can mod that into reality. I've already had an idea about dropping Shepard and gang into the game for [censored] and giggles. Inspired by the ending to ME3...the part with joker and multicolored explosions. <.<

Yeah, then they had to offer a free DLC for the ending, because the original version made no [censored] sense at all. Was just full of plot holes. Still is in a way...but they're not as massive.

I know this will only help PC users but if you open the console and type save then your characters name ex: save Kell .....that will label a savegame as your characters name.

Wasn't the ending so bad that people actually threatened to sue?

More than that actually. it spawned a fund raising drive which had something to do with sending cupcakes to BioWare HQ as some kind FU. Makes no sense, so don't ask me. I also believe they were reported to the federal version of a Better Business Bureau or something.

Some details are hazey, due to me not wanting to remember that dark chapter of the BSN. I do remember people made an attempt to tank ME3s score on Metacritic. Even got into the news.

Bascially, the Extended Cut DLC was the response to an overwhelming outcry/attempted sabotage from the community. It really is an example of what not to do as a developer.

The Extended Cut was alright. But it took them so long to release that damn thing that I stopped caring about ME completely.

Back on topic, I'd like to see a save system like the one from Mass Effect/Bioware. It's ridiculously more convenient to switch to new characters and organize your saves, and as a personal save-maniac (I get like 500 save files per RPG), having profile management in Skyrim would make my life much easier.

Most certainly. Felt this to be one of my biggest petpeeves of Bethesda games so far, no separate character saves.

I haven't seen it yet. After d/ling it, I started a new playthrough but quit shortly after the Sur'kesh mission. I really can't be bothered to even care about ME anymore. BW [censored] up, and now I've placed them in the same boat as Ubisoft. That is, they get no money from me until proven they stopped svcking their own dikes.

Anywho, I digress. A better save system would be most welcome.

erm. NO. ME3 is a broken steaming pile of excrement that casualy rubs in your face that all that hell you went through in all three cames was for NOTHING. None of those hard choices ment a damn thing and have NO effect on the conclusion of the series. -takes several deep calming breaths- That said, I wouldn't mind a Nerevarine cameo here or there. the fricker is imortal after all. Or as Immortal as anything gets in a TES game.

Umm... how does any of that have any effect on how ME3 handles its saved files?

Didn't read what you quoted?

He was saying the save system used for keeping track of multiple save files (which is about the only [censored] thing BW got right) would make keeping track of save files in Skyrim so much easier.

If you use an alternative memory storage, seperate character saves are quite possible and easy. I just my USB drive into the front of my machine. They're not that expensive, either.

Well you managed to start a new playthrough. I was so full of ME that I couldn't stand checking for updates.

I only did it because there were still weapons I hadn't upgraded to level 10 yet...even though I never used anything other than the Revenant/Claymore combo. <.<

That's sort of a hassle and it might not keep people from overwriting their character. As a PC user, I can go into my saves folder and manually rename the files but that amounts to the same thing. Forget for a moment and you might overwrite your character.

Kell666's tip is just the ticket... at least for periodic saves. Quicksaves should still be automatically named for your character, though. It's just lazy not to have a profile system in place.

For Xbox I have 5 characters, 2 are level 3 and 1, their saves are at bottom of the list so I don't delete them. My other level 20, 13, 53 have a few saves. But after being very careful with my deletes, I deleted my most recent level 53 save luckily I had one of him while I was level 52 so after that I just copy the 1 main save to the cloud. So if I delete a main save I can get it back.
