[REQ] DodgeDash

Post » Mon Jul 09, 2012 1:25 am

I know a lot of people want a dodge roll of some sort and I know that there aren't any animations to use for it etc. so one hasn't been released. I was wondering if it would be possible to instead create a sort of dash using part of the Whirlwind Sprint animation, maybe give it invincibility time that lasts the duration of the animation to make it actually able to dodge? Think Slip Dash from Vindictus if you've played it. Here's a video link if you haven't: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ew5D_csBp0

This would be a good alternative until an actual dodge roll or something can be made.

Right now I'm using a CD reduction mod on WW Sprint to create a similar effect but it kind of ruins the ability to use any other shouts and it feels OP given the distance it can cover. If a mod like this has to use the entire animation then it's still a good way to handle it especially if it doesn't have to be tied to a shout anymore.

I know nothing about modding otherwise I'd happily start working on something like this, and if something like this has already been done feel free to post it. I've been through the Nexus and Workshop and haven't found anything akin to this yet.

Thanks modders. You guys really make the game great.

I'm sure many of the rogue/warrior styled players would love to have a dodge ability. So long as you can dodge forward, back, left and right it would work. Maybe if some one could figure out a way to where if you double tap one of the w,a,s,d keys you would dodge in that respective direction. A dodge would only have to be 3-6 feet or 1-2 meters to be a proper dodge. Thats my 2 cents worth anyways.

If a mod came out that acomplished this i would DL it in a heartbeat. my guess though is SKSE will be required, not a problem for me but others tend to nit pick about that sort of stuff.

This is probably already possible with current SKSE functionality, but personally I'm waiting with doing this till the next big version of SKSE where they'll have a more efficient and imo more user-friendly way of detecting key-presses.

If by then noone has done it, you are allowed to expect I will do it :P Initially wanted to include it in Deadly Combat, but may instead treat it like my Dual Wield Parrying mod... something so elementary and important that it should be a new mod on it's own instead of being included in a bigger combat mod.

Excellent to hear, Borgut. I love your Dual Wield Parry and plan on trying out Deadly Combat for my next playthrough. I look forward to trying out more of your stuff and eagerly await any dodge mod.
