Why I Wish Attributes Weren't Removed

I've been playing Oblivion again the last few days, and there's one thing that I really wish wasn't taken out. Attributes. Now while Bethesda would argue that it just makes the game less intuitive, I believe that it has actually made it more intuitive. My reasoning was that at character creation in Skyrim, every character was exactly the same except for a few minor differences in initial skill levels. A female Wood Elf could carry as much as a Male Orc. Does anyone else see the problem in this? Attributes help to define what kind of powers your character has, whereas skills dictate the level of those powers. I like how the male races are all stronger than female, and the females are more agile. I like that Khajit's are faster than Nords. And I like how Altmer are more intelligent than Orcs.

I'm just bothered by the fact that your character in Skyrim has no attributes to define them, like how strong or fast they are. Now obviously there were fixes to be made like maximum speed, but nonetheless it was a decent system. I don't get the benefit of removing it.
