The Ebony Blade - How best to dispose of it?

Post » Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:43 pm

Alright, i'm on The Whispering Door at the moment, just before picking up the Ebony Blade, and i'd like some advice on the best way to get rid of it.

Preferably without even putting it into my inventory.

It's obvious I can't just leave the thing inside the room - Even if I load the save from just before unlocking the door, Nelkir is eventually going to get it open, take the blade, and stab Balgruuf to death with it. I need a surefire way to dispose of it that leaves no room for it being put into the hands of anyone who could be manipulated by Mephala.

Any help?

I don't know. It just seems like it would wash up somewhere again someday. I need something permanent.

Why not just take it home and guard it? There was no point opening the door if you were not going to take it, it was safe where it was. You want that Oblivion Walker achievement/trophy you have to at least add it to your inventory, then get rid of it. No idea how you would get rid of it, the conmtents of the chest at Ironback Hideout (pretty sure it is that one) respawns each day, leave it at the bottom of the sea, sell it, leave it down in Blackreach somewhere.

You could throw it down the ravine in sovanguard

Give it to Lydia, she will probably lose it for you.

Take it to Sovengarde and then throw it down that chasm that the Whalebone Bridge crosses over.

Not likely to come back from that.

I disagree. Eventually, Balgruuf's son would have gotten in there and things would have gone south very quickly. I'm also not very convinced it would be safe in the hands of the Dragonborn; He/she might be able to handle it, but it's also cursed, and eventually the Dovahkiin will lose it.

Both awesome ideas, and probably the safest way to go. I suppose i'll just need to, well, not kill anyone with it until then.
