Any tips to play skyrim without lag?

Processor: Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 480 @ 2.67GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GH

Memory: 4096MB RAM

Available OS Memory: 3764MB RAM

Card name: Intel® HD Graphics

Manufacturer: Intel Corporation

Chip type: Intel® HD Graphics (Core i5)

DAC type: Internal

Display Memory: 1754 MB

Dedicated Memory: 128 MB

Shared Memory: 1626 MB

Current Mode: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)

NVIDIA GeForce GT540M, up to 3674MB TurboCache (whatever this is)

So i'm kinda laggish at certain places (especially places with water and smoke, fps goes to 17); though i have some texture mods installed so i'm squeezing quite a bit out of my laptop already :P

Just wondering if there's any secret trick that i don't know of. (I don't really want to buy a new desktop, seeing as my laptop still works fine). I run this GameBooster program before skyrim, and im presuming it improves my performance.

You are well below the minimum with Intel as your only video. If it's not a desktop PC, you are stuck with what you have, and need an entire replacement system. With a desktop, you can purchase a graphics card and power supply pair that will meed the recommended level for quite reasonable costs.

He has a GeForce 540GTM as well as the Intel GPU.

It should be ok provided the latest drivers are installed and the dual-Intel/Nvidia graphics thing is disabled.
