Questions about archer build

Post » Thu Jul 12, 2012 12:00 am

I want the most effective (Master difficulty) Archer build possible in the LONG run.

My race: Breton (For the magical restiance, it just appealed to me that it would be awesome in the longshot, and with dragonskin)

Heavy armor or light?
i don't care how fast my stamina drains, but seeing how heavy armor gives you a better armor rating, would it not be better?

Stealth: The problem is with stealth, i have noticed it really levels you fast, and the problem with that is... you can't keep up with npc levels... my question is is it worth getting the x3 damage perk with stealth? What do you think? Would a non stealth archer work just as good? i don't care about roleplaying i just want to be efficient in battles, and try to be a Pure.

Conjuration: Should i get bound bow? now that smithing is harder to level do you think its worth putting the perks in it for the skill? i want your opinion.

At the minuet i am level 1...and wearing a belted tunic lol..so i dont level up either light or heavy until i decide, i strictly want to slowly level, while getting good archery progression. In other words Pure. So if sneak is not all that important i suppose heavy armor is a win? but please make it clear to me the advantages, and disadvantages in the long run with putting percs into sneak. I really do think it levels you up to fast.

I need all the advice i can get.

Race: Bosmer, if your going to be an archer why would you need Dragonskin?
Skills: Archery, Light armor, Sneak. Why would a "pure" archer have any form of arcane learning?

A Breton? I am sorry, but I think a Bosmer would fit much better, for they were born to use the bow. If you're going for an archery build, I would not use bound bow, but instead an actual bow and arrows. a Bound Bow is really used for mages/battlemages, who are not skilled with the bow.

Other than RP race means nothing in this game

But Bosmer get +10 Archery. Breton have +10 for conjuration, unless the OP plans on using the Bound bow the entire game. Though any race can master archery, but if you're going to make a character that relies highly on archery, you mind as well play as a Bosmer. Though it's the OP's choice if he wants to make a Breton a master archer. I am only suggesting.

I believe i said it was strictly for magical resistance anyone can reach 100 archery so the bonus 10 at the start is little to nothing. Now any advice? Like is it worth investing in sneak seeing how it levels you so quickly? Or just no sneak at all.

Edit: i don't care who is fit for the bow or not..bound bow can be used by a archer for damage? my question is is it worth investing the perks in the skill tree for it or not.

Suit yourself, seems like a good tactic if you're against a mage. You don't have to use sneak, but if you have high sneak, you can always choose rather you want to sneak up on your enemies and take the shot or run straight into battle. I would go with using sneak since it would do some good damage when you're hidden, as well light armor, since heavy armor can make noise and give away your position.

As for bound bow, if you're going to be a pure archer, then you mind as well use an actual bow. And I believe an actual bow can do more damage than a bound if you have high archery.

I wouldn't sorely focus on Sneack if you want more of a challange instead of blasting through to level 15 in a couple of days.

You only need bound bow for getting soul gems when hunting dear. So if your not going to be big on enchanting then dont worry about it. And heavy armor will slow you down.
