Suggestions: More Like Morrowind

Post » Thu Jul 12, 2012 5:21 am

While I love the story and geography of Morrowind, the dated gameplay has always been a barrier to my enjoyment, and I have sadly never finished the game. To make up for this, I have tried to create a Morrowind-like mod set-up for Skyrim, and I would love recommendations of mods I've missed that add that Vvardenfellian flair.
Here's a list:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19353 (Obviously)
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9857
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17011
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8429 (Highly recommended, gives a lot of NPCs with a lot of things to say. The voice-acting is surprisingly good and diverse.)
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10462
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8058
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9557 (So you can arrive by boat)
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16411/
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16901
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7587
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12510

What are some other mods that add things items from Morrowind, or bring back gameplay elements? While Morrowloot works fine with Skyrim Scaling Stopper, what I would really love (and this is pie-in-the-sky) is a mod that acts as a sort of Morrowloot for NPCs, and works seamlessly with Morrowloot, with Skyrim Scaling Stopper I still run into bandits with dwarven equipment every once in a whil. All the NPCs would be hand-placed and named like in Morrowind. I know this would take a ton of work, though. But I can dream.

Named Soul Gems? pretty minor, but it's all I can think of for now
You should finish the game, but I know what you mean. I'd play it more but the combat annoys me when I try.

Purist lore-friendly version of Skyrim Monster Mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16411/)? Adds Guars, Durzogs, Ogrims from Morrowind (and a few of the other monster mod creatures, but doesn't go overboard like the original SkyMoMod does).

Also I'd recommend Lore Friendly Starting Stats and Encumrance (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16901) and Height Adjusted Races - Morrowind Heights update file (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7587)

Ooh, looks nice! Gonna try that out.

Also, my memory of Morrowind is kinda fuzzy, but weren't many enemies and guards generically named, just like in Skyrim?

I believe guards were, but from my recollection I think most bandits had names. I might be wrong.

I've started the game multiple times, and every time I've gotten quite a bit farther before I stop. I'll probably eventually get to the end.

...I think you misunderstood me. The mod displays the name of the captured soul in the name of the soul gem, as it did in Morrowind, but not in vanilla Skyrim.

so Petty Soul Gem (Petty) could become Petty Soul Gem (Fox) etc. I think it works for NPCs also.

Yeah, I understand that. I was responding to Arkangel's comment.

While not truly Morrowindesque, Cloaks of Skyrim does have some Vvardenfell-flavoured cloaks hidden away, and is inspired by Morrowind in regards to the hand-placed, unique cloaks waiting to be discovered, a-la Morrowind style loot.

I certainly don't expect it to be added to the list as the majority of the mod isn't Morrowind-like, but just so you know, in case you are desperate to draqe an Urshilaku Tribal cloak around your shoulders or something.
