I presently run an HD 5770 Win7 64 bit with AMD 10.5 drivers and it plays Skyrim beautifully on High, 4x AA 12x AF. That's right, the drivers are from May of 2010.

The 5770 still runs great, but, lately temps reported by ATT get up to 105C. That is with the side cover off and a room fan blowing cold air on the card. The temps are nearly as high in a very old MMO that I still play. This is not a situation that will last very long.

There are of course options, but I decided to treat myself to a more powerful video card, hence the HD 6950.

Can anyone suggest, from direct experience, older drivers that work well for Skyrim with an HD 6950? The 10.5 drivers are too old for the HD 6950.

I have seen a lot of bad experiences reported here with 12 series drivers. Thanks for any help.
