Heavy roleplay DiD help

Post » Fri Jul 13, 2012 9:13 pm

I need some help. I took a very long time on this character, and have been playing a few days with her. I want to play DiD, but I can't seem to bring myself to just stop on her.

Here is the situation- I left winter hold and was on my way down to windhelm, now I knew there were some powerful mages on that road in the fort, but my character didn't, so I was not greatly prepared. I actually thought to myself-"jeez I hope I don't die". I had a few healing potions but not a lot, and I have died there many times before.

So I end up being killed, but I really liked this character so far. So what I'm looking for is some help either motivation to start over, or an opinion on if I should or not.

Also I could use some advice on beating these mages with my Mage. With my heavy roleplaying this character doesn't use any wards, and I hadn't found the atronach, or lord stones yet. So I don't know what I could have done to prevent my death. I almost dealt enough damage, but the last person ended up killing me. I did try to run away but it was too late and I was on fire.

If you're a hardcoe DiD-er, you wouldn't need to ask us if you should stop that character, as you would've already deleted the save. One compromise I've seen made for a death on pseudo-DiD is that you make a hefty payment - say 100,000 or more septims - to continue. If you aren't ready to give up or re-roll, this would be your best option IMO.

And in regard to the mages, use illusion, unless that is also against your RP.

You could also go the way of getting rid of everything in your inventory, chucking your gold in the nearest container, and returning to Helgen. An alternative to complete annihilation.

You could always delay the payment until later, or give up 100,000 septims worth of items instead.

I normally don't play DiD, because for me hardcoe DiD and role playing either enhances or subtracts from the gameplay. But if you know you'll die up ahead, and even if your character doesn't know that they'll die up ahead, if you want to continue you'll RP that they had a bad feeling about that road and took a detour instead.

If you have to ask us then DiD is clearly not for you.

I could never do that personally. Too serious for me.

i tried doing DiD on my full mage. Got to level 19 before falling off a cliff.

I said "[censored] it" and kept playing.

If somebody doesn't convince me otherwise that's what will end up happening.

Just do as a few of the others said. Toss your gear and money into a river/barrel/whatever, maybe leave a few things of lesser value that no one really would want on you and RP you blacked out from the impact, they robbed you and left you for dead. Seems a decent trade off to me.

That actually sounds really good. I'll dump my stuff, then fast travel to wind helm and roleplay that somebody found me and took me back to wind helm and nursed me back to health. I guess I'm not up for DiD, I put way too much time into my characters to just delete them.

You can always start again.

I decided to try this DID thing. I got that Unbroken girl to follow me, she died in bleakfalls barrow. I kept moving forward.. I got out of there alive. Then I went to return the golden claw and was feeling good about myself. I left the trader and stepped outside. Something wasn't right, the locals were acting crazy. But I couldn't see anything. I turned around and an assassin jumped me and before I could react I was dead. Problem was, it was an assassin from a mod I have installed. The baddies it has seem leveled quite a bit higher than me, they are TOUGH. I reloaded just to see if I could take him. I managed, barely.

So my death was in part due to the mod but also due to my slow reaction. So, I accept it and have not played that char again. I don't know that I'd do it again. But it was fun, and I'm glad I did it.

If you really love your character this much then keep playing. Just do some heavy role play if it'll make you feel better.

The first character I ever deleted in a DiD run was the hardest to delete but it get's easier the more you do.
