Argonian Armor Aesthetics

Beast races have come a long way. In morrowind you were lucky to find a helmet to fit your character, unfortunately it was impossible to ever find shoes due to the size of the race's feet. In oblvion this was fixed and anything could be worn by each respective race...I believe this was explained lorewise by saying you were now playing as a different subset of your race, which happened to have more of a human shape. This was pretty cool except for the fact that argonians didn't really look that lizard like now they had more of toad/turtle looking face, and it was impossible to get a neat looking complexion that matched the rest of your body (mainly because the creation process was pretty horrible...move one notch and the rest went everywhere). Now in Skyrim Argonian look like savage raptors, I'm really happy with the way they look, and I can still wear anything I want, but here's the problem. Even though every single piece of armor is available to my character, it doesn't really look all that great to wear them. For example look at dwarven helmet, the imperial closed helm, and dawnguard heavy helmet...these are without a doubt some of the coolest looking helmets in the game, but I'll never wear them because it obviouly wasn't designed to be worn by an argonian...it lookis incredibly unappealing having a blunt flat faced helm with a tail sticking out of your character.

My hope is that in future, when you put on a closed faced helm it will be elongated if your playing as a beast race, and if you put on a chest piece, armor will be placed on your tail of the same matierial. To get a mental picutre of what I'm trying to explain google image search "BANGA DRAGOON."

...just dont wear the armour? it makes no sense for the armour to deform to fit an argonian (which i exclusivly play as). while i dont care for the feet, morrowind got helms right, tails would not be covered by a chest piece but by greaves (which beth will impliment in TES:VI *jedi mind trick* :shifty: ) but beasts to need the ability to wear tail armour

Some light armor on the tails would be pretty sweet. Or like a spike at the end :P

It should also be a lethal weapon.

One thing I noticed about the helmets in Skyrim is that they're more forward, more stuck out. I am assuming it was made into this shape so it could fit any race? Or am I seeing things?

Well I hate to break it to you...but don't all armours always deform so you can wear them...It's not as if your argonian is taking an iron knife and cutting a hole through that steel chest armor you thought looked cool on that bandit, that you just killed, so he could fit his tail through. In the case of the beast races nothing really makes perfect sense but would anyone really complain over an aesthetic thing like this...does it really make sense for my character to wear the dwarven helmet? His face would never actually fit into it. I honestly think it's more logical for the armour to be deformed a little, but that's just me.

no it doesnt and enlongating the helm would make the dwarven helm make no sense. argonians not wearing closed helms is just common sense( can this | | fit into this | | ? no) and attempting to deform the helm makes just as little sense (you're out in the field, you've jsut picked up a helm and want to wear it so you start hitting it with rocks and bam, it magically fits?). come to think of it, argonians have spikes on their head, they should not be able to wear any head armour at all.

I love Argonians, but it would really svck if you couldn't wear certain armour because of out race :/ But the piece of armour changing to make it more realistic would be cool yeah.

I keep hearing this (excuse) and yet I've never seen anything in one of the games to back this up. No, the fact that varieties EXIST don't count. I'm talking about the games outright stating the characters are -insert variety here-. It's often followed by people ALSO claiming that you play the exact same type of Khajiit in every game (often assumed to be Suthay-Raht) except in Daggerfall.

Make up your minds, people.

it makes no sense for the armour to deform to fit an argonian (which i exclusivly play as).
It makes no sense for flat, male-shaped armor to suddenly turn into curvy boob plate either, but it still does.

Ok but the fact that you have a tail hole in every single piece of armor you ever wear is completely fine? That seems to magically appear.

The real reasons Argonians look more human is because of the amount of hist they intake as a youngling. For example, in Daggerfall they just looked like green humans, but in Morrowind they actually looked like a lizard.

I think the "sub-species" thing is more apparent for the Khajiit.
