Quest design gone downhill

This has been my biggest gripe with this game since day one.

Nearly EVERY single quest has you going into X dungeon to do Y at the end of it.
All guild chains are extremely short and pointless. It turned my Skyrim into a series of repetitive dungeon-crawls with zero closure from nearly all of my quest chains.

Now I look back at Morrowind, and I notice that the quests were MUCH more varied. Hell, even Oblivion had quests more varied than the ones from Skyrim.

What do you guys think of this? Were the quests in Skyrim any better than those found in previous ES?

I've been rabbiting on about this kind of thing on the Dawnguard threads, very annoyed with the linear progression alot of the time. It leaves very little room to be creative with roleplaying.

I liked some of the quests in Morrowind, if you were a little bit devious and thought outside the square sometimes you were rewarded. Sadly it seem as the graphics improves the quest stories go downhill.

I liked the Bloodmoon and Tribunal quest but never get into to the main Morrowind quest, too much guess work. The quest in Oblivion felt the same way the Skyrim in terms of the non Faction based quest. There were more "This is a really cool item I found after doing that quest." The dark brotherhood and Thief guild lines seem to be the ones again, too bad its the two "evil" factions again too. The Companions line is a let down, but it is also the one I've done the most.

The quests are really linear, so I just avoid doing them. It seems it always requires you to go inside a dungeon

Really? I thought all questlines from Morrowind were just perfect.
And yeah, it's a shame the evil factions (that go awkward with the whole Dragonborn thing) get the BEST questlines.
