Are new modders taking on too much?

I've noticed that a lot of new modders are starting out with giant projects, rather than working on a simple house or quest mod to test the waters. Is this a good idea? I know some of the veteran modders have giant projects, but they're also working with groups of people.

I'd hate to see a lot of new modding talent go to waste because of burn-out, and people taking on far too much for their first project.

I can see both new and veteran modders burning out on big projects. I've been modding since Morrowind, and only with Skyrim have I decided to release mods. Even I got burned out on my race overhaul project, and only came back recently.

long story short....this has been happening since Morrowind and actually happens across the entire IT industry.

New Modders should start small and build up to bigger stuff....but new modders dont listen to that thinking they can do everything.
