Finished Main Quest at Level 1 (88 hours played).

I was getting a little bored about a month or so ago so I created a character looking for a challenge. The rules were:

-he'd stay Level 1 so no perks or boosts to health/stam./mana
-no fast travel except to escape terrain glitches
-no items boosting trade skills
-enchanted armor was allowed if they were quest rewards but if I enchanted them myself I was only allowed to use Petty Soul Gems.
-the only enchanted weapon I used was a soul trap dagger to fill soul gems
-no armor except for a shield, leather boots and hide bracers

I played it as a skirmisher style character using bow by preference but sword and shield when things go tight. I used Shouts in Dragon fights but otherwise mainly just healing spells (I used Flames a couple of times against trolls). My only non-quest follower was a Stray Dog.

Nice thing about this build was I didn't have to worry about over-levelling so I could putter around with Alchemy, Persuasion or what have you without having to worry about gimping myself in a fight.

As the topic title states it took me 88 hours to finish the main Quest line using these rules. I probably could have finished it sooner but I took quite a few side quests as well (including Imperial side of Civil War, Bard College and the Dibella, Mara and Kyne quests).

When I finished the Main Quest I levelled up to check and found I was a Level 45 with:
Speech 62
Alchemy 69
Restoration 42
Alteration 49 (from transmuting ore for smithng)
Enchanting and Smithing 100
Block 54
One Handed 75
Archery 76
Light Armor 48
Sneak 76
Lock Pick 71
(The rest had minimal increases from quest rewards, reading skill books etc.)

Highest level critters I had to fight were Level 20 Blood Dragons and a couple of Draugr Death Overlords. It took a lot of health and stamina potions/food at first but got a lot easier once I got the Marked For Death shout

Best generic weapons I found were an Ebony Axe and Sword from the Overlords. Best generic bow I could find were Imperial Bows.

Advice I'd give if you'd be interested in doing something similar is don't be too much of a stickler for the fast travel ban. I stuck with it but it was painful at times, especially travelling up to High Hrothgar and doing the Imperial Civil War quests which involved a lot of repetitive travel back and forth to quest locations. Also, if you wanted to play this rule set with a pure spell caster you should at least go to Level 2 to get the Novice Destruction perk or you'll never have enough mana.

He means he didnt wear anything that would increase barter so he could sell thing at higher prices and buy at lower prices. In other words he gimped all vendor transactions.

No trade skill boosting items means no super powered potions or Legendary weapons or armor. With 100 Smithing you can only go as high as Flawless condition and with Alchemy at 69 the best healing potion I can make only restores 27 hit points. And with Petty Soul Gems, even at 100 Enchanting skill, you can only get Plus 1 to a skill not Plus 15.
