I'm going to either make an Imperial battlemage or a High Elf pure mage. I don't know which one to do!

P.S. I've never done either before, only a nord who swings around battleaxe's

High Elf... You can live near forever and be superior in magecraft! To achieve such as imperial... you would have to catch vampirism. And why one or the other? Not an imperial mage or High Elf pure mage?

I'd say Altmer.

high elfs have highborn which i think either increases magicka or regenerates magicka faster by 50%
one of those im not sure which so a altmer is a pretty solid choice but being a mage is hard my friend, u may want to train alot and right off the beggining of ur playthrough go straight to the college of winterhold to get in touch to some of the best spellbooks
being a imperial battlemage imo is the best choice.
u get an all around experience between good weapons and solid spells right off the bat in the beggining of the game. doing a little bit of both will carry u that much further to level overall progress. so the imperial battlemage is the way to go.

Highborn power regenerates magicka quickly. However they also have Highborn ability which starts them off with 150 magicka rather than 100.
