Xbox 360 and Skyrim Graphical Comperison?

Post » Mon Jul 16, 2012 4:39 pm

I just purchased Skyrim for $29.99 on Steam, and I was wondering how well my PC will run Skyrim in comparison to the 360 graphics wise. I have yet to actually install the game yet, because it is still downloading. I checked how my PC will fare with Skyrim, and the website says I slightly pass the Minimum requirements. Anyways the only area where I lack is my video card, and the video card I have is a ATI Radeon HD 5670.

My exact questions are:
Will my PC run Skyrim with graphics equivalent or superior to Skyrim on the Xbox 360?
What is the defined graphics quality for Skyrim on the Xbox 360 in PC graphics terms? (For Example with Oblivion on the UESPwiki they said the Xbox 360 version had all of the graphical settings set to low and some on medium.)
How good will the graphics be with the recommended settings?

I believe Skyrim runs on medium-high graphics on Xbox 360, while there's an ultra setting for PC. Things also seem to load faster and more efficiently for me but I have a pretty high-end rig.

Thank you I think you've pretty much answered my second question. My first and third question are yet to be answered though.

Well if you run over the minimum requirements, it SHOULD be about the same graphical quality on your PC, for your first question.
As for the third, recommended settings should be around the same as the 360 graphical settings. But I'm not 100%.
All the questions were a lot alike so I thought I'd get 'em all in the first post :P

What is your cpu? Skyrim is a very cpu dependant game and having a decent cpu (most pre built "gaming" pc have a crappy gpu but a nice cpu) usually gives smooth sailing.

More than sufficient. Pair that with 8 gigs of DDR2 or 3 RAM, a Geforce 460 and you can handle anything but the Samaritan tech demo. A ballsier card will handle more, but so far the 460 hasn't stumbled once.

I'd be a *little* concerned about your card. I was playing on medium or high settings with my ATI Radeon HD6570.(I upgraded to an MSI R7770 to do 3 monitors lately) It seemed acceptable but I think barely maybe. I did have the 5670 I think.. or 5460.. something like that. But put it in our other computer when I got the 6570 for Skyrim. I do just have a 2.1ghz processor though, so perhaps that will help you along more. Try it out and see. You can get a better card for not a whole lot of money if you need it.

I know I'm jealous of your 2.9ghz. :D

5670 will look somewhat better than consoles provided you have at least 2GB of system RAM. Anyway, Skyrim on 360 is a mixture of low and medium at 1280x720. You should be able to pull ultra texture + medium everything else at 1920x1080 on a 5670 provided you're running the latest ati drivers.
