Shouldn't Khajiit characters run faster?

Post » Tue Jul 17, 2012 12:37 pm

Since Bethesda did away with the Speed stat in Skyrim that they had in Oblivion, now everyone basically runs the same speed. (except for High Elves, I know, who run a little faster due to their decreased weight)

My question is, since Argonians can breathe underwater due to their race (which I use every time its possible to escape enemies - so long Goldenglow), wouldn't it make sense that Khajiit characters should be able to run significanlty faster than any other race in Skyrim??

Why? They have the same shape of feet as every other race.

By this logic, Khajiit should sleep 16 hours a day and Argonians be limited to movement in sunlight/warm days.

ha, that's a good point, but it just seems silly to me that Altmer run faster than anyone. If every character is not the same speed, then it would seem logical to me that Khajiit would be able to sprint at least a little faster than any other race.

It is also an insult that they removed attributes so you can't level up speed

they said the reason was that it forced players to bunny hop everywhere. I don't like grinding like that, too breaking for Rp characters, but it is nice to have the option.

Doesn't this happen by default now? Maybe it's just my imagination, but I could swear I'm moving better at level 50 than I did at level 1. I can dungeon crawl at blazing speeds, and I'm pretty sure Bleak Falls Barrow took forever at level 1, despite being on my third game and knowing what I'm doing.

I remember in Oblivion that I would spend literally hours running up a big rock and then jumping off just to improve my Acrobatics skill. Good times...

Well cats in real life have different muscle 'build' then any other animals their leg muslces arent connected to their bones like our muscle structure. There legs are just 1 mass of muscle with some bones for support. If khajiit would have this similiar structure i would say yes and they should jump higher like real cats :)

Maybe you pick perks that increase speed wearing armour? That's they only surefire way that works that I know of. Although, I find that the main quest dungeons and areas are more unique and tend to be larger than the rest of the game. It is maybe why I like the main quest more than most people

Ah, good point. I'm definitely more powerful now in my game, so actually dealing with threats takes less time, which makes the overall clearing seem faster.

I'm on board with a Khajiit's speed being boosted. By all accounts, we should be the fastest animal on land, and the only threat that can come close to touching us is our cousin, the saber cat, who I don't kill because, you know, it's family!

Khajiits should run faster. Argonians should swim faster. Nords and orcs should have less stagger. I'm still ok with the athletics skill being gone. As long as they thought this out more. There is no reason the races should be equal in everything.

All this "Khajits faster, Argonians faster" talk adds too much 'realism' to a video game for me. It's a fantasy video game... I'm not anticipating everything to be as it would in 'real life.' If I want reality I'll buy a cat and throw a lizard into the pool.

Because in real life, Khajiit and Argonians run the fastest.

Your stanima is probably higher allowing you to sprint longer. When your sprinting your nearly as fast as a speed 100 character from earlier tites. People aren't really missing the speed attribute they're missing fortify speed.

I don't know, sure CATS have different leg structure than humans, but considering Khajiit are plantigrade like humans and are humanoid I think it'd be hard their legs to be like a cat's without the entire anatomy just going screwy.

That said, it would be cool if all races had one more unique feature about them that you could notice all the time and not just in combat or something. They got it right for Argonians, but there should be that cool general feature for all races. For example, Khajiit should always have improved night vision.

Racism!

Seriously though, this is correct, in real life and in fiction, i dont know why oh why we decided to pretend that a lizard is identical to a man is identical to a cat, all the races should have differences, betters and worses, do we really have to be PC in tamriel?
