A simple plight.

I am here, a new account on the forums, not to whine, or complain, but to open your eyes. TES is a very, VERY popular RPG series. But, on PC (the superior platform), it has the most annoying, infuriating error. The unannounced, unexplained CTD's or Crashes to Desktop.

Ever since Morrowind, forums all over the web have been exploding with annoyed, and quite frankley disappointing gamers. An RPG is a game in where you can immerse yourself in another body, in a another world, and escape this one. Immersion is very easy to break. It seems to be an ARTFORM, for Bethesda. Possibly the biggest troll company in the world (bar EA. Launch DLC huehuehuehue umadbreh?).

'Hey! Lets make some really f&%!£"g awesome RPG games, that have amazing gameplay, graphics, quests and characters!'

'Yeah! Great idea!'

'I second that!'

2002:

'Hey, the fans seem to LOVE our new game Morrowind, the third installation into the Elder Scrolls Series!'

'Yeah! But there seems to be a major issue with random PC crashes...'

'Ok, lets try fix this for the next game, no point trying to do it now'

'Dude, you sure? Maybe we sho-'

'They wont mind it happening this once. Lets never let it happen again!'

2011:

'Hey, the fans are ADORING Skyrim! Its a huge success'

'Yeah, but like with Morrowind and Oblivion it has those crushing CTD's still. We really must fix it-'

'Take him away! There is NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR GAMES! NOTHING TO FIX HERE! NOPE SIREEEE'

This is what I can only imagine in my head as happening. If you hide behind the shroud of its a new issue, or we didnt know about it, or we cant fix it, then you really are talking out of your arseholes. All over the web, people are screaming at you to fix this, and you just turn around, stick up your middle finger and continue humming your blissfully innocent tune. Do you have ANY idea how frustrating it is to try and play this, this beautiful game, that takes my mind and body to another world were I can do what I want and escape my twisted life, and to have it suddenly thrown back at you by something you could easily fix. There was even a mod to fix this, but for some reason he has HIDDEN it from view. If a single modder can fix this issue, even with a few issues himself with it, then surely an experienced games producer with over 20 games under your belt, be able to fix it easily. Patch over it. Fix the game. I would offer my specs, but honestly, I dont see the point. I have seen reports of CTD's from machines ranging far and wide. It is an issue with the game, not the machines. Therefore it is your duty to fix it, as we cant do anything about it.

I have tried doing this with and without mods. Nothing works to fix this nightmarish problem. I have slugged through well over 100 threads, complaining about and reporting this issue, each with over 200 posts of individual users saying they also had this problem, and compiling data! I dont see what is so hard about doing this. Fix it for skyrim, fix it for all games you make in the future and ensure a loyal playerbase, that buy DLC, Expacs and new games. Keeping this issue drives more and more people away from Bethesda games.

An example of this: When Brink came out, I was excited about it. Like, really excited. I was prepped and ready for an awesome and innovative new game from a superb developer! I told all my friends I was going to, and do you know what they said? 'No way dude, Brinks gonna svck!' or 'Urgh, seriously, bro? You are going to buy a Bethesda game? We all know they are buggy and not fun because of it'. And to this day, I havent brought it. Because they told me not to. ANd I dont regret it, because I know if I had brought it I would have just gotten pissed off at the buggy game and punched my screen in anger that I had just wasted £29.99.

So here is a plight, coming out from the heart of a dedicated gamer, who is going on to do a college degree in game design, then hopefully university, to continue my course, because I am so passionate about gaming, I want to go so far as to breathe life into the things I so desperately love. I give you this plight, from other dedicated gamers, who adore you, Bethesda, and games in general, but these people, who love you and your games, have been let down. Over, and over again. Stop doing it to them. Show them back the care they give you. Fix the bugs, dont just sit there greedily counting your cash, because if you carry on how you are, that mountain of cash will soon wilt and die into nothing.

So please. For your sake, and our keyboards and screens sake, fix the CTD's. Its really not that hard. Please. For the PC gaming master race. Please.

One disappointed gamer.
