Major Issue in Irkngthand

Post » Thu Jul 19, 2012 1:08 am

Hey guys.

I apologize in advance if I seem a bit noobish, and my grammar is sloppy, but it's 3 in the morning and I'm throughly frustrated with myself. So, before I get ahead of myself, let me give you all the backstory. This all takes place during the quest 'Blindsighted'. Also, I'm on PS3.

It was a normal day in Irkngthand; Falmer sulking around, Dwemer valves creaking and expelling steam, and me, sneaking through, assassinating everything. There was murder everywhere. Now, when I got to the first cutscene type thing (when Mercer shanks the two clueless Falmer), I figured I'd just skip a small portion of the level by clipping through the wall via the platter exploit. I being the noob that I am figured all would be jolly, and didn't save before doing the glitch. All was, indeed, quite jolly. That is until it came time for Bryn, Karliah, and myself to face Mercer.

The dialogue stops right after Mercer finishes saying "Karliah, when will you learn you can't get the drop on me?" and I'm left there, unable to move, draw my weapon, or even revert to 3rd person view. Of course I saved right before heading through the final door, so that eliminates any chance of me loading a previous save and finishing the quest legitimately. Now, what intrigues me the most is that I can go back down to the platform where mercer kills the two Falmer, and I see him standing in the large, egg sac-filled room. Eventually I just gave up, lifted the Skeleton Key out of his pocket, and tried finishing the quest. That didn't work either. I've searched for hours and all of my efforts have been in vain.

What do I do?!

I know, it was foolish.

There's got to be some way out of here, though.

Nope, there seems to be no way to fix it. Other than going back in time. Sorry

Face it. You did something that was never anticipated or expected. Therefore, the code does not know how to handle the error. You essentially have two events in progress. You have the event where you clipped through the wall and the final event triggered.

It is standard practice to have multiple save files. It's the only way to ensure you have a chance to go back and do something if all goes haywire.
