Weird Problem with Steam?

Post » Fri Jul 20, 2012 5:36 am

I made a similar thread on the Steam Forum for Skyrim, i make it here as well to increase my chances of finding a possible solution to the problem.

Now to my problem. Since a few days when Steam starts i get to see "Update paused" behind TESV Skyrim?

I tried "Resume All" in the Download section, i have tried "Verify cache", i have tried exiting steam and restarting it again...but it stays the same? Now as a result of that message i also get this error message when i try to open the Skyrim Launcher?

Now i can still play the game since i lauch the game with SKSE but that does not mean that i do not want to find a solutions for it. Preferably with out having to reinstall Steam and TESV. But i will of course if need be. By the way in case it is needed, my Skyrim is version 1.6.89.0

Also the community...store and news part from steam work as intended, so it is a weird problem in my opinion?

You've pretty much covered all the basics. I'd recommend reinstalling steam. If you don't want you could try starting another download and seeing if that works, and if it does pause it and then do resume all. It might trigger something in TES as well, alternatively you could just wait for a new update for either steam or Skyrim and hope that fixes the problem...

Eh, Steam has a tendency to randomly pause updates for some reason.

I find that if I keep clicking Pause/Resume it catches eventually. It's done this as long as I can remember, and I've used Steam for over 4 years now.

I will try downloading something first, but if that does not work and i have to reinstall Steam...can i simply install over it or should i uninstal the old version first? I ask because even though Steam And Skyrim have separate un-installers...Skyrim is installed in the Steam folder.

Yes i did do that, i mentioned that already in my opening post.

EDIT: I just noticed another weird thing? When i right click on TESV Skyrim, then on properties and go to the update tab, i see that auto update is disabled? No matter how often i set it to auto update again, steam some how sets it back to non auto?

Also i checked what downloads where available for Skyrim at the moment, and there is only one thing and that is the High Res Pack. ( Which i do not use, and i did not try to download it either? )

I tried downloading something ( One of the free games, and it started downloading right away. ) i then paused it and then clicked resume all but the only that resumed was the free game download. I am getting the dreaded feeling i will have to reinstall everything, both steam and Skyrim.
