Help me understand . . . .

Why is it in this segment of the Skyrim forums we are the only ones holding Bethesda Studios' feet to the fire? In the General Discussion area, they act like nothing is wrong with the game. They act like it is the best game ever created on Earth (to date). I don't get it.

I play games to have fun. I don't get all into creating a back story or anything like that. I know as soon as I start playing it would all go out the window anyway. Try to explain that to the other guys, and they will come back with simpleton answers like, "You don't have to do everything. Don't pursue all guilds in one playthrough." Are they even playing the same game? Bethesda practically tells you to join every faction in the game.

I don't know. Some people just take this stuff way too serious. There are other things in life that actually feakin' matter.

you really shouldn't take the general discussion area seriously. Most of the threads are made by COD kids that want to request more stuff for the game. Such as werebears, lvl cap of 200, more powerful destruction, nerf alchemy (because you get every perk in that tree and then complain it's too powerful). And my favorite: "I made my armor with a 1000 rating, and my big sword does 5000 damage, this game is too easy, the enemies die with 1 hit and I don't take any damage, give me a harder difficulty 'cause master svcks". Its good for a laugh :)

I guess it's because the 360 is fully supported and the PC guys largely support themselves via the repair, I mean creation kit. but generally speaking official forums attract fans and fans are going to be largely positive in their writings.

The PS3 Issues section however proves an exception. Part of this is tradition as Bethesda has never really shown an interest in supporting the platform in the long term and I think a few older posters still hold a strong memory of the treatment of the PS3 community the Fallout 3 DLC debacle. The bulk of the reason is of course that despite so many promises to the contrary before release, history has repeated itself, the PS3 version is arguably broken and there's a patch out there that fixes some of that but that patch has been withheld from us for reasons unknown and Bethesda hides behind a wall of silence refusing to answer the most basic of queries on what the future holds for Skyrim on PS3.

Sometimes you will see people talk about the ps3 problems on the general forums. Often though people will blame Sony for the problems the game has, and not Bethesda. Unless Sony kidnapped Bethesda employees and forced them to release the game on the ps3, I don't see how they can be blamed.

Only the truly blinkered out there would think it's Sony's fault, Bethesda has a strong pro-Microsoft Bias due to cash paid for better support for it's platform, the effort being put into fixing the DLC and the level of communication in other forums reinforces this opinion.

The general forum is good for amusemant from time to time but usually a PS3 user pointing out a flaw in the game will get eaten alive by some of the lower lifeforms in there but there are a few more open and understanding to the issues the PS3 has.

I tend to stay out of it as I am also not a totally "Into it" RPG player, I like the game type, I enjoy the world of exploration but as to creating a character backstory and epilogue when retiring as I have seen........no I don't think so. Some of the really mundane petty discussions where things like specific arrmour styles or decoration get wished for alternately make me laugh or want to puke sometimes so I leave quickly.

Some people just get so into a game I suppose, most will grow out of it eventually. ;)

What I hate is people who blame Sony. Don't get me wrong Sony can be just as bad as in terms of not saying s**t for a while and being very lazy and getting fans frusrated because of it, but when poeple blame Sony because of of the failures there favourite company this case Bethesda it's really just stupid unless they can prove with facts on how it's Sonys fault then there just trolls or they think there s**t don't stink. The only Devs that can some how fall under Sony's fault for failure are the one they own e.g. Gurrilla Games with there Killzone series but even then it can still be placed on the fault of the Devs because they made the game Sony just funded it and maybe demanded to get it out ASAP.
