Need help deciding what type of character to play

Post » Sun Jul 22, 2012 12:03 am

So I recently came back to Skyrim and I've been spending the last few days restarting over and over not liking the characters I made. I had a light armored warrior that used two-handers and no magic. That got boring. I also tried a pure mage which got boring as well.

So now I'm kind of stuck. I want to try a spellsword style of character but I remember playing one of these before and it ended up being that the melee was so strong compared to the magic I would usually just hack and slash anyway and not use spells. Any ideas on what kind of magic-melee hybrid is fun and what kind of mods to use for this kind of build?

Sounds like you need to increase the difficulty level, did you know you can do that? It is in the basic game options, only available after you create a character, when you can save the game.

For a magic-melee hybrid I would go for Conjuration and or Alteration. But I have only ever used melee characters before...if I did make a hybrid those two sound like they could be fun to use.

Mods definitely make the magic scale much better. I personally use Better Magic, as it's very simple and not game-breaking, but there are quite a few magic mods out there; just search the http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/.
