Just a "Thank You" to the developers

Post » Sun Jul 22, 2012 1:44 pm

When playing Morrowind, I was posting quite a bit.

Oblivion, not so much.

Skyrim. practically not at all. Why? I'm busy playing (no, not doing a story this time, sorry).

Just wanted to finally give a few impressions on the game so far. I've finally made it to the Throat of the World in the main quest.

First impression after the tutorial phase of the start-up was done.

First view of the mountain near that small river community was just awesome. The sounds during the day (crickets, birds), the sounds you hear at night, just drew me in.

At night, when the aurora comes into the sky, and the music that comes with it brings a tear to my eye. Jeremy Soule, I have NO clue as to how you are going to out-do yourself on the next Elder Scrolls game. You nailed the feeling of this story to the wall.

Devs, great job on the environment, game play, visuals, etc.

Just had to get this off my chest. Lots of people put in hours of work on this story. I know a "thank you" is always appreciated but seldom heard. Just wanted to make it heard.

Thanks.

Absolutely. If I were to design a game so it would be the game I always wanted to play it would pretty much come out exactly like Skyrim. Great job all !

Most immersive game I've ever played. Not without a few blemishes, but the overall product is superb. It's the kind of game that draws you in with unheard of levels of immersion.

Yes, Skyrim looks very nice. Gameplay and visuals are good.

What Skyrim lacks is depth, and that is in my opinion more important than making a pretty game. That's one of the reasons why Skyrim disappointed me, but I suppose it's an okay game overall.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and the game has numerous flaws, many of which I suspect I agree on. But the twenty something threads about "Oh em gee I'm so disappointed with [Topic] in Skyrim" weren't a better platform for them? You picked the "We appreciate what you HAVE done for us!" thread?
I never bashed the game, I was merely pointing out that the game is far from perfect. I even agreed on the OP's points.

And FYI: There have been many "Thank You" threads through out the months after Skyrim release. It's not like this is some place where criticism is forbidden, never was.

Focusing on the flaws of Skyrim is like focusing on the lack of arms on old statues.

I think we can all agree that Skyrim is not perfect, no game is perfect. However, overall, it is a great game. In fact, I have come to think that it's the games "flaws" or rather idiosyncrasies that contribute to the flavor or feel of the game. Oblivion had some flaws, Morrowind did too. Most of us still love or like those games. Those who don't may not have played them.... :)

I want a game that is fun, engaging, offers replay value and lets me do what I want. Skyrim does that. Most games don't.
