Where should I stand in this WAR!?

Post » Sun Jul 22, 2012 10:43 pm

Hey fellas, been awhile since I posted here soooo how's it been?

Anyways I can't get my mind around this whole civil war thing, and I figured I would get all your cents here.

Now bear in mind I really don't give 2 craps about the war, I'm having a tough time choosing sides and figured I would bring in typical lore to help with my choice. I just want to do a side and complete it for pete's sake!

Okay.... So where I am having my issues is that my Character is Argonian..... Now according to my understanding on Elder Scrolls Lore is that Argonians are not very fond of the Empire (that is my understanding.... If I am wrong please correct me) As the empire tried to raid Argonia and such.....

I do like the Idea of Nord Indepence and the fact that the nords would have their freedom (insert Braveheart joke here) but I also think that Skyrim would be able to function better with the help on the empire....

So I guess my question is, as a typical Argonian (leaving personal taste out of this), who would I side with in theory?

Thanks

You can go with either side. The Stormcloaks, contrary to popular belief, aren't racist, and, really, as an Argonian, you owe allegiance neither to the Empire nor to Skyrim, so can pick any damn side you please.

Nooooo I know I can pick either side, and I know technically there isn't an "evil" side. As this is a civil conflict, each side is expressing their own personal views. As the imperial side wants the empire to control skyrim and the stormcloaks want an independent land with nord tradition.

I just want to figure out... Being an Argonian and since ES Lore has it that technically the Imperials tried to do the same thing to Argonia (bring the empire to it) I would expect that my character would hate the empire.

I'm in a pickle here.... On one side I like the imperials, but I do want an independent skyrim.....

My stormcloak character was an Argonian, if that helps any. I figure with the relationship between Black Marsh and the empire, he could sympathize. There is the issue with Argonians not being able to enter the city, but that's mainly for their safety as Brunwulf will tell you once he becomes Jarl. However, there's also the issue with if your character thinks that Ulfric is really looking to make Skyrim a strong nation for all loyal inhabitants, or if he's just in it for himself. The treatment of non-nords in Skyrim could be another deciding factor. If it gets where you just can't decide which side to pick, just flip a coin and join whichever side you get.

Pretty much this.

While I have sided with the empire on several characters, The primary reason why I usually choose the 'cloaks side is by asking myself "why would I want to work for a faction who were hell bent on unjustified execution without due process?"

I don't see why your Argonian should take a side since he has no allegiance to Empire nor Skyrim.

Make a new character and choose a side with him/her.

Some valid points here!

I do remember those guys trying to lob my head off at the start yes, but I also recall that at least in my game it was also an imperial chap (nice guy) that saved my ass and got me outta dodge.

I suppose it would make sense that I would join the stormcloaks mainly as a reason to kill the empire. Thats the only cause I would see to join them.

And all my characters are Argonian, been that way since Morrowind. For whatever reason I don't like playing other races.
