Last night I was thinking about what I would want added back into Skyrim if I could choose anything, and I realized I would really like to have the abliity to cast magic without having to have it in my hand. I think this could easily be achieved by turning the RB (or R1 for PS3 users, I think) into a button that just casts all magic. This would require working with the animations I realize, but they had it in Oblivion and I don't think it would be a major pain. Honestly, I don't know why they dedicated a single button to powers/shouts. With the long cd for a lot of the shouts and obviously only being able to use most powers once a day, I hardly ever use the RB button.

My question then becomes, do you think this would be game breaking? Part of me thinks no, because pure mages will still be using magic in either hand and it definitely has an advantage in terms of being able to cast more rapidly as a destro mage or use two things at once. If they put in that new feature where you can combine spells, I think they should make it so you can assign a spell to RB or R1 and cast it whenever you want, with weapons or without. I miss that feature greatly and it would make life on archers and warriors so much easier.

I just had a thought. Maybe they could reduce the effect of the spell by 25% when you use it without it equipped in your hand? Let me know what you guys think.

Evidently this was an unpopular idea, but I thought of some others.

1. Weapon Stacking - Allow us to have our weapons always present on our bodies (except in the case where we are using it of course) such as when I am using a two handed sword and bow or dual wielding, let me see both weapons on my back or hip.

2. Young faces for gents & more hairstyles for all - I'm thinking either an age slider, or make them young by default and let us use the slider already present to make them more crusty looking. As it stands, my supposedly 21 year old Imperial's face looks like tanned leather. I don't know if female races suffer from this, but just from looking, it doesn't appear so.

3. More marriable characters - The way marriage works, this seems like it would be easy. They need to have more marriable beast races (I don't think there even is an Khajit woman to marry) and just more overall.
Spoiler
They need to let us marry Serana from DG, that is what they need to do.

4. Customizable followers - I'm stealing this from Game Jam I know, but it is a good idea as well. Maybe allow us to set their battle preferences, train them in certain skills, give them gear to use, etc.

I appreciate any feedback, thanks for reading!

well game jam items have been what we've been getting so far. as for using the rb or r1 isnt that what they did with oblivion? i kind of hated that. made it feel more clunky and i never really felt i should be able to cast spells through my weapon. and if they did that then how would you dual cast anything? it would also make it far more tedious switching between spells/shouts/powers. like it was in oblivion. RB is my 'time to save my life' button in the end-game.

For me this begs the question: What will they do for the next game? I mean, the next character probably won't shout, so will the shout button be reserved for the greater and lesser powers, or maybe something else?

I also had an idea kind of supporting this: since each weapon type always appears on the same place of the character model, how about adding unique weapon belts to each armor suit that your sheathes attach to instead of just having them float out there in Oblivion?

I think all of these ideas are just great.

New spells maybe but I would rather they just fixed bugs and include this stuff in an expansion.

I think spell creation should be reserved for an expansion so it could be properly done.
