Thinnking about making a merchant class - any ideas?

A breton -- Who will use : bows / daggers. Sneak/ Companion alchemy/enchant

He will favor remain neutral for the most part : essentially favors the money.

He will kill for gain / convenience : the right sort of competitor.

Possibly do Steal missions at night with the right cover story going on.

Somewhere in all that I want to try and sell things for more money to areas that might require the up cost of things. (role playish)..

Anyone ever hear of or actually make a merchant type class.

Mine will probably for sake of not knowing how to role play that too well ... join the thieves guild / assasins guild. have that kind of back bone

That sounds like a mercenary class, a merchant generally doesn't go out killing things for currency, they trade for it.

You could max barter and follow the Khajiit around or just walk the roads alone to different cities selling things. You'd still occasionally have to deal with combat on the roads, but I don't think it makes sense for a merchant to go dungeon diving. However, it would be fairly lame since there's no economic system in Skyrim, you generally can't buy low in one place and make a profit selling it in another. If you want something like that you'd have to get mods or just play Mount and Blade: Warband. Crafting is generally the only way to turn a profit from something you buy from a merchant, but then you're not as much a merchant as you are a craftsman, which I suppose is still a merchant of some sort but still seems a pretty grindy and boring way to play.

Use as many perks on Barter as you use on combat skills?

Or try a treasure hunter
Don't take quests just go hunter treasure everywhere and sell all the stuff and use those treasure maps and random quests that tell you about treasure locations... Unless you are dead set on makeing a merchant just hire a body guard and train in speach
Make your hireling carry everything you find.

My plan for dungeon diving... because I use perk up mod, alternative perk lines and deeper leveling inside them.. I will have my companion brute dwarf taking the heat. and i use my bow/dagger. as for the stealing/killing. it is more of a shady merchant willing to do what it takes to capitalize in his gain. and as for the selling part. I have a lot more selling enhancment perks because of that mod. so i will role play sort of designate the intended sale. But anyway. I basically just want this guy to gain as much money as possible I guess. and play out the thieves guild / asssassins guild. sort of like a political motivator in essence. but a high end merchant.

Thane of all the holds -- secretly dark brother hood/ thief guild master. Shady Shady shady
