Ok I'm kinda new to magic in just about all other games I either a stealth or warrior character I've tried being a Mage before but I don't feel it I want some help on how to build a Mage and to feel involved with the gameplay and I don't mean like hack and slash but I want to feel like I'm having fun using my Mage and I'm not really specializing in any particular school but I'm open to suggestions

I would suggest specializing in enchanting and destruction. As a Mage I always found alteration and illusion to be quite useless except for the candlelight spell.

Illusion can actually be quite helpful for crowd control, but everyone asked will give different opinions.

Personally, when I play as a mage, I focus first on destruction and conjuration, and then start to throw in some illusion.

Illusion is the funnest, imo.
