Ok, so every time I try to adopt a child I can't because I apparently have no bedroom for it, even though I have a complete bedroom with child bed and everything. I noticed that the child bed I built said it was owned and I thought maybe my steward was sleeping in it. I tried building her a new bed and also killing her and that didn't help. I figured then that I would try to build a second child's bed and that too said it was "owned". So now I have two child's beds, both of which say they are "owned" and I cannot adopt a child. What the hell is going on?

you my friend have run into a glitch....beds seem to have glitches my bed has a glitch that makes my wife un interactive until she wakes up ...you cant even pick pocket her

The child beds always say they are owned since the player cannot sleep in them, nothing unusual about it, only a child can sleep in those beds. You have to have the furniture that goes with the bed. Just the single beds and their furniture in the main hall will do to adopt a child, so no need to stress out if you do not want an owned bed in the house.
