Issue With Samuel

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:51 pm

So I have two kids, a boy and a girl. I come home and my son comes up to me and asks me if I need something. I backed out of the dialogue and tried to walk away but he continued to follow me asking me if I needed something. I'm not engaging the dialogue option with him but it forces me to talk to him when he approaches me. Is there anyway to resolve this issue? A member of the companions also does the same thing whenever I'm in Whiterun.

-A little help would be greatly appreciated.

No dialogue options? People often approach you and speak to you, but I've never seen that happen. "Need Something" is usually what happens if you talk to someone, and their generic dialogue is used up.

I get the option to respond but I don't start the conversation. He runs up to me and asks me if I need something then I back out of the dialogue and try to walk away but he runs up to me and does it again.

Finish the dialogue. In these "in your face" conversations, backing out is the same as cancelling, and is therefore marked "incomplete" by the game.

Just dismiss him, but get used to your kids doing this every time you enter the house. You'll either be asked to play a game, given something, a pet request, or an allowance/present.

Annoying, but a quick "not now" finishes it.

Aaah! You guys don't get it. He initiates the dialogue for no reason even after I give him something or what not. If I'm anywhere in the city of Windhelm (which is where I live at the moment) he finds me and says one of these phrases:
  • "hmm"
  • "need something?"
  • "papa"
I don't start the dialogue. One of the members of the companions does this as well. I don't want to talk but he pulls out his sword and approaches me with this:
  • "you've been a good friend to me...."
  • "need something?"

Likely because you haven't been terribly clear on whether you have selectable dialogue options or not. You've said "I get the option to respond." To me, that implies that a dialogue menu appears on your screen. Is that the case or not?

Moral of the story: Samuel svcks, don't adopt him and frequently make fun of him in the orphanage

Already got it with his second post. When I was a youth, if I had a technical issue with some game/toy/video game/whatever, I'd have to write or type a letter to the manufacturer, stick it an envelope, stamp it, mail it, and if I was lucky enough, I'd get a reply within a couple of weeks.

Now look where we are today. The magic of the Internet at our fingertips, and if we don't get our solutions immediately it's "Come on guys!"

I despair where we're headed sometimes. I really do.
