Can't edit cell properties!?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:38 am

This is really crazy, but for some reason I cannot edit the cell properties of any new interior cell I create. I just duplicated a dummy cell I have that's basically empty, and was going to set the new name, lighting and so forth, and everything is greyed out! I can't give it a name, change lighting or anything. WTH did I do? I haven't changed a thing since the last cell I made which was last week.

EDIT: Just did another test with a different plugin that I use for poking around and I get the same thing, so it hopefully isn't my other plugin.

No, nothing is set, no location, no lighting template, nothing. Everything is simply greyed out. I can't edit anything. Even if it were set to a template, I should be able to set that to whatever I want. I also tried uninstalling the CK and re-installing and it's still the same. I've created 2 new test plugins, and they're all the same thing.

:swear:

I should also probably add that this is occurring only with new cells I try to create, not on ones already created. I can edit my old cells fine. Also something strange is that if I try to delete an object from my new cell it doesn't immediately delete. I have to reload the cell and then it is gone. This is killing me...

That happened to me as well. I couldn't seem to edit the cell properties if the cell was currently loaded in the render window. Try double clicking on another cell (doesn't really matter which one) to load it instead, then right click on your cell that you want to edit and you should be able to then.

Nope, still can't. I'm going to go throw up now...

I have that issue quite often and was getting very frustrated until I noticed that just single clicking on another cell and then back to the desired cell turns on the edit function. Actually loading up another cell seldom works for me as that one is also greyed out until I select another with single click and come back. It seems as if they set it up like a safety feature to stop accidental edits.

Thank you all for helping. I finally did the above last night after fiddling with it for 2 or 3 hours. Frustrating is an understatement. I was literally feeling sick to my stomach until I realized there was nothing wrong with my plugin as it happened on brand new plugins I was testing with.
