"Urgent" Need some help finding a guide on getting m

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 3:23 am

Why urgent? Well I am going to loose my internet access for a week+ and it can go off anytime between now and tomorrow morning. So I want to get some help as fast as I can

So yeah as the title suggested, need help getting modder resources into my CK/esp.

What tools do I need? Nifskope, 3Dsmax?
Where can I find a good guide on how to do it? I saw a video tutorial on the wiki but the author took down it on youtube. :/

Thanks so much, I'm not doing anything for the next week or so other than hanging out with friends and I want it to be as productive as possible doing heavy interior work... not a delay.

Edit: I have searched extensively for the past day and haven't turned up anything useful, mostly just requests and links to actual modder resources.

What manner of resources? If models/textures or anything with a file extension other than ESM/esp, they're not in the plugin but are separate (usually within a BSA). If, for instance, you introduce a widget MISC item and point its model in the CK at a Clutter\Widget.NIF that is released by another as a resource, the CK will automatically include Skyrim\Meshes\Clutter\Widget.NIF and the model's textures in a BSA it creates.

Well they are nif files so models and textures I assume. Yeah I am new to this, I am mainly a level designer but only have experience with vanilla assets, I want to expand on that with my new mod.

For example: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21283 Here is some resources I want to include. No BSA was included, just the nif files.

or this: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18340 More complicated than Chesko's but something I wanted to include in my mod. But I don't want the esm/bsa to be a dependency if it is not needed.

I don't understand what to do with the BSAs, should I unpack Skyrim's Meshes BSA and place the resources in there and repack? I don't know how to do this either.

A BSA is just an archive and will contain anything a plugin draws from (scripts, models, textures, etc.). Unpack a BSA and you'll see its folder structure is just like Skyrim\Data with the same subdiretories. You'll not need to include vanilla assets as users will already have them.

See the Wiki's http://www.creationkit.com/Archive.exe

Also, when you lose your internet, the CK will not work unless you set Steam to offline mode which, purportedly, still might not work.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the internet necessity either. I can't stand having to log into something just to tinker with a hobby. >_<

Oh I am such a dumb ass lol :P All I had to do was create a new static, well atleast for chesko's, and that is all I really need, I can live without the general store thing but not those books, if a mod sees this they can close it.

Oh man I just found that Modders Resource Pack by Oaristys and Tony67 like less than a minute ago, I am so excited to mod now it's a great feeling! Too bad it will end for a week starting tomorrow lol :(

Edit: That weapon rack, bookshelves, plaques resource looks extremely helpful by the look of comments too, probably going to have to grab some of that stuff as well :D

You can still mod offline. I almost exclusively work offline. Just make sure everything is working and set Steam to Offline mode.

Here are a few other links:

Modders Resource Pack by Oaristys and Tony67

Grimoas Picture Frame - A Resource for Interior Decorators by Grimoa

FoodContainer Resource by Blary

PotionShelf Resource by Blary

And my second favorite (General Stores being my fav):
OpenBooks Resource by Blary
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14134#content

I haven't figured out how to customize the textures for OpenBooks yet, but I love the "look" it gives to my house. And you can use the General Stores mod as a resource without using the ESM, which for personal use, is fine but if I release my house mod, I will switch to using the ESM as so many people really like the universal access.

Blary's got some good resources. I'm almost overwhelmed at this point :P Thanks for the links man, and if I decide to use general stores I'd have to do that then I suppose.

Yeah, after giving up trying to find the "perfect" house mod for my character, I decided to make my own. It's actually the funnest mod I've done so far! ;) I'm loving it!
