How can I remove an esm from my esp?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 6:57 pm

I just realized I have a serious problem. Once upon a time I recruited some help for my mod and the person activated the update.esm file even though it was not required.. Now that Dawnguard is out I want to add Dawnguard content or even content from the SkyMoMod and my Skyrim will either refuse to load because it is detecting multiple esm files or crashing upon trying to load..

I have heard that the program FO3edit will remove esm's from esp's for Fallout 3 But I don't know of something that will do it for Skyrim.

Can anyone help me with this? How can I get rid of the update.esm as a requirement for my mod..?

Thanks in advance!

You can do it in the CK. Open your mod using the Data dialog so you can see the Parent Masters (on the right side of the dialog) and press CONTROL-DELETE to remove the master.

Also, you can increase your master list in the SkyrimEditior.ini:
[General]
bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1

Oh wow. Wish I had seen this thread yesterday, when I basically remade my mod from scratch to get rid of its dependency on a master file. Thanks for the tip!
