I was wondering about the new restoration spells you can get in dawnguard :

* Can you only get the spells from the person you recruit in the dawnguard or can you ( maybe after finishing the quests) get them also through Colette at the college of winterhold?

* Do they damage all undead ( draugr, ...) or only vampires?

* Do any of you use them regularly ?

The damage spells work on all undead, even draugr. There are also spells that heal the undead.

I use them regulary. You can get the first damage spell from the breton chick you recruit along with Gunmar, while you have to complete Bolstering the Ranks to get the other ones. The heal undead spells can be bought as a vampire.

I try to use them often as I'm playing a paladin-type. I like Stendar's aura, it's pretty efficient for melee combat. I use Sun Fire and Vampire's Bane once in a while. They do seem to suffer from the same problem as Destruction though: the higher level you are, the less effective they will be.

They really add a new dimension to the restoration school. It now has offensive weapons like destruction but for the undead only. Really suits well some styles of RP.

I have not found the one to heal undead yet. I might go eventually but it's really not something I would use...

I really like to use them for RP purposes.

I use stendarrs aura and vampire bane

Especially the stendarr's aura one seems pretty cool to me

Towards undead, do they more damage than their same level destruction counterparts?

For my Vampire Lord/Mage, the Necromantic Healing spell has been the lifesaver of my Dead Thrall many times now...

I also use it to heal Serena
Maybe if I keep healing her she may stop rejecting me

I think the damage values are the same sadly enough. However, the magicka costs are way cheaper in comparison:

Firebolt - 41
Lightning Bolt - 51
Ice Spike - 48
Sunfire - 14

Be aware however that Sunfire doesn't seem to have any secondary effects associated with it, unlike the others.
