Problems after update - exiting cells and getting stuck in w

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 7:06 am

Hello all.

Well, I downloaded the update and now I have problems when I test my mod. I try to test it by using the ~ coc or cow to enter at the menu screen with the level 1 character. I also loaded my already saved game to see the results and they are the same.

I cannot leave any interior cell that I made to the exterior cell/outer world via the load door. I redid the teleport link on the doors again, no change. The door opens and the load screen comes up but I get placed right back in the same spot where I activated the door inside the interior cell.

I also get stuck and cannot move in any direction after wandering a few feet in the exterior cell (world). I then get the trigger message, "You cannot be here", that I use for my out-of-bounds areas. This is while in an area that doesn't have any occlusion plane/trigger box that I placed. I cannot see either in the CK to remove except for where I placed the plane/trigger intentionally. I have traveled freely everywhere, in my exterior and interior cells, before the update.

I have not tested the pathing of the NPC's yet to see if they can come and go freely.

I also have random vanilla NPC's showing up in my Inn and they do not seem to leave. I did not copy and paste this Inn from any existing vanilla Inn. I put it together from scratch to keep from getting these problems. :(

I am a novice at the CK and do not have the slighest idea where to start to troubleshoot these problems. So, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Update: I did further testing and found that my Region Audio Cells were causing the problem. Once I removed them, I could travel freely and exit the interior cells. So, I am not sure why thats the case but removing them solved my problem. If anyone knows why, I would really like to know.

Did those regions have the "Is border region" box checked?

Not sure how relevant this may be but is your mod dependant on Update.esm? If so, since its first save?

Thanks for responding,

Honestly, I do not remember since I deleted them and I have no way of checking. I made them before the update to Skyrim so there is the possiblity that it was. Would that explain the reason I couldn't move? Even though the problem wasnt in the area of those particular regions and was affected in the areas that I didnt assign any regions to? I couldn't hear any sounds when I tested before the update so I may have done them incorrectly.

Yes it is. I am just learning the CK and I really didn't know any better when I started.

Yes, that could definitely be it. If a region is set to "is border region" and you enter the worldspace outside of that region, you are stuck in place with the "you cannot go this way" message. I believe that if you exit an interior into a part of a worldspace that is outside of the border region, you are returned to the interior.

Well then that probably was my problem. Thanks so much for clearing that up. The Region section is still very very new to me, so it's pretty much trial and error until I learn it.

Not a bad thing. I think it should be done for every mod, you don't know when an update will come along that your mod could clash with. Personally, when making a new mod, I always forget :P

The Tamriel Border Region can be "turned off" by unticking the border region checkbox, or possibly by altering the array in it rather than unticking the border.
Unticking is the easiest of the two.
