Creating your own Tamriel Worldspace Cell

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 10:11 am

Hey guys, need help again sorry :)

So here's the deal. I am busy making the exterior for my mod and I have found a nice spot. I started creating my exterior by going to the Tamriel worldspace Cells and then finding the world space by searching for it by co-ordinates (in the creation kit). My co-ordinates i used are 23 ; -19 to be exact. So I am busy creating my exterior in a "Wilderness" cell. I hope you guys are following :)

What I want to do is create my own exterior cell where I would not have to use co-ordinates to find my exterior, however I want it to be in that specific "Wilderness" (23;-19) cell but my own cell named "my mod exterior". I also want to do this because the wilderness cell that I am using now is using up the cell space allowed eg. 132 of 159 mb. I have a feeling it'll lag more if i dont create my own cell that will have 159mb space for use over the specific wilderness cell.

I really hope I explained properly :(
Thanks in advance :)

You can make a new cell, yes, but it will NOT be in the tamriel worldspace. It will also be flat and empty.

What you are hoping to do will not do what you are expecting.

So is there no way possible to do it the way I want?

How to explain.
You don't want this random worldspace "out" in tamriel because it will be like its own little universe. I'm pretty sure you can rename wilderness cells and then set up map markers and the like (I know I managed it somehow for my mod, outside of my house is called MDHMzandahrkExterior when it used to just be called Wilderness X,Y). Places like riverwood and falkreath aren't their own worldspaces (I believe) so it might be worth taking a look around. Or you could just attempt to rename the wilderness cell straight up with the old click and drift slightly back or double-click or however it works (I'm away from the CK at the moment so I apologise if this is a bit vague).

*Unless you want to go down the road of having this space walled off like Whiterun or similar. These are their own worldspace's out in Tamriel and when you tcl out of them you can see how this might not suit your needs.

*EDIT:
I also want to do this because the wilderness cell that I am using now is using up the cell space allowed eg. 132 of 159 mb. I have a feeling it'll lag more if i dont create my own cell that will have 159mb space for use over the specific wilderness cell.

If you're reading that from the render window bar I haven't ever found it to be meaningful (Someone feel very free to correct me here).
In the house mod I am working I am constantly seeing values ~ 600mb, this on its own has little (nothing I can discern) impact on in-game perfomance.

Thank you Antares. That was the answer I was looking for :). So I guess I'll just rename the wilderness cell and that I shouldn't be worrying about it exceeding 157mb, I don't even know why they display it there @157mb since it's not a limit?

I would guess it is a very strong recommendation in order for the game to run on consoles.
