With the release of dawnguard, we have more followers available.

Right now im using Injard... She looks pretty awesome in ancient nord armor and her occasional humming is amusing.

Serana - but that's not shocking, eh?

I feel stupid now but the only new follower I've seen is that annoying vampire Serana, then again I've yet to bother with the Dawnguard side.

As much as I enjoy Serana, I ended up sending her back to ford Dawnguard with enough weapons and armor to slay the whole fort should they turn against her. Without the usual follower controls she was difficult. I couldn't make her wait cause she would wander around. I couldn't instruct her to do anything. And she always made a cute yet smart ass remark when I tried to give her some junk to carry. I'll have to try some of the other followers out. As long as they have normal follower commands.

I have kept Serana as a follower throughout most of the Dawnguard MQ. I switched her out a few times since, just so I could see Lydia shoot the crossbow, which was really great, and see her in new gear like DG armour.
Only issue is the carry weight bug seems to continue with the recent patch, where the follower's (not Serana) carry weight is not working correctly.

I like the new dogs both factions have. The A.I. for Serana is interesting, I would like to see future followers have the same type of behavior.

Dumb question, but how do you get a Dawnguard dog? I see them in their pen, but can't find someone to sell me one or get them to follow.

once you've progressed a bit into the dawnguard side of the SL walk over to one of the huskies and talk to them. you should be able to ask if it wants to go kill some vamps. it'll then follow you untill it dies.

I switched to Ingjard, now, too. Threw her in a full set of dragonscale with one of the new dragonbone battleaxes (as an aside, I'm glad she (for me) chooses that over the warhammer; conceptually, the warhammer's design is really cool, but unfortunately, IMO, it ends up just looking like you're fighting with a big chicken's legbone).

But I miss Serana's spellcasting - see, I'm a melee or stealthy guy - so the air support is great. Ingyard does seem quick to switch to the bow though, so I'm gonna stick with her for a bit. But, hey, what gives? She's essential, too? Kinda kills the realism/tension of having to watch out for someone else.

I use Durak, always nice to have another Orc follower. He's pretty useful, much better that damn Serana. Can't stand her.

If I had mods I would bring together the Orc crew. Dovak (My Orc), Durak, Ghorbash and any other warrior Orcs. It's also a problem with Largashbur, the giant killed everyone except Ugul.

I believe you just talk to the dog and get them to follow you. That's how I did it.

Celann levels to 81, so he has about 1000 health unbuffed. I gave him fully enchanted/improved Dawnguard equipment along with the DG Rune weapons and an armor piercing crossbow with Turn Undead.

He's pretty L337 now
