Serana Dissapeared

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 1:09 am

Im sure this happens now and then with followers, but this is the first permanent follower ive actually liked. Ive finished the DG MQ, and have had her around for a while, but she seems to have disapeared, no matter how many time i sleep or go to new areas. Other potential followers state that she is still with me, ive checked the UESP and it simply says wait a few days, so im going to get on with my normal characters routine and just wait until she comes running up one day, but has anybody else had this problem? And does anyone have an idea how to fix it?

Yup, this forum has a number of threads about people who have lost her. None seem to come back to say whether they figured it out or if the advice helped. But that's pretty common.

If you are on PC, Steam Workshop has a mod that allows you to toggle Serana's existance on or off....when you toggle her back on, she is conjured to appear beside you, that's a fix if you lose her.

I've just had Serana vanish in the soul cain...did the entire section on my own hoping she would come back...she didn't.

Quite annoying as my last quicksave was a way back in Potema's tomb dammit

She will still be there some where, I lost her a lot in the Soul Cairn. You run all over the place like a complete idiot, when she sees you she will remember she is meant to be actually following you.

I lost Serana once in the Soul Cairn. Turns out she was stuck in one of the towers - her pathfinding wasn't letting her find a way down. I would walk up to her and she would start following but once we got within a certain distance from the problem spot, she would walk right on back. She wouldn't even zone with me when leaving Soul Cairn. I'm not sure what caused it but the only ways to get her unstuck were console, reload and good 'ol Fus Ro Dah.

If you don't remember where you left her and you're on PC, try the player.moveto console command and her ID # to teleport to her location. Then you can try a disable / enable, a placeatme to create a new Serana or recycleactor console commands. On console, try a reload or FRD to pry her out of whatever navmesh or geometry she's stuck in. If you don't remember where you last saw her, then reload.

i hated having her follow me....she constantly got stuck on stuff and even refused to exit a particular cave once. she also svcked at sneaking.....which svcked for me since i was a thief. chances are she's stuck on something somewhere.

She can be annoying sometimes but she is a DAMN great follower! if she has good armor that is enchanted, also she deals great damage.
SADLY i lost her to... hope they fix that..

i couldnt seem to get her to equip armor....tho she would periodically use the staves i gave her. which is kinda odd because she's a spellcaster yah? but every chance she got she was whipping out her dagger to go toe to toe with baddies.

Both my characters who did Dawnguard gave Serana scaled armor, she looks very fetching in that scaled armor helmet. The first character gave her a fully enchanted and smithed set of armour, the second just gave her a fully smithed set since she had no enchanting skills. Serana also seemed partial to elven armor, but I never tried to get her into a full set.

I gave her a fully upgraded dawnguard armor that she equipped!
she is a spellcaster and sometimes she won't use melee weapons for some reason...
Staves are great and it's awesome when a follower actually uses one like Serana does alot for me.

Sadly she has been gone for many gaming hours for me and i don't think she will return....

My game is pretty heavily modded, and I stuck her in reinforced leather armour, which with a hood looks good on her. I figured that if I put her in something not too strong, then she'll get knocked about a bit and won't take all my kills or spear me in the back with icicles.

I lost her while scaling a mountain--guess she got hung up on some rocks.
Now, I've seen a slew of console commands to go to her, but none (that made sense or worked) that brought her to you. The commands differ from those used to get Lydia back.

If you want to go to her: player.moveto 02002b74 hit enter, and escape the console--you'll be wherever she's at.

If you want to bring her to you: prid 02002b74 hit enter. Then below that add: moveto player (no . between moveto and player, just a space). Hit enter again, then ~ to escape the console. Serana will be with you. It's the ONLY command I found that brings her to my side. She was still running when she appeared, so she was trying her best to get back to me.

And yes, she can be given hotter items--I just hate to cover her up like Lydia. Light armor is one of her specialties, so I've given her a few appropriate things which she promptly put on...While she can live without them, she'll take health potions too, just to stay in the fight longer.

Check Darkfall Cave. She almost always ends up just sitting in there for no apparent reason for me after I finish DG.

She won't come to you after you wait. She's probably stuck somewhere.

It seems Serana has a wandering bug, where she just randomly walks away and explores the world. She is most likely somewhere in the world, but she will just be going everywhere hiding from you.

In one of my games this problem spread to EVERY NPC in the game pretty much. Just randomly. Walking to a quest, and all of a sudden they turn around and walk away. They started to wander the world, and I'd follow them. If they were involved in a quest, I'd talk to them, and it'd continue, but this screwed up the scripts.

Lets say Karliah had to talk to Bryjolf, but their both wandering away everywhere, they can't talk to each other. Not to mention what a pain it became to find people. Whole thing was just annoying. Had to delete that file.

That happened to me in every fight, and they were always head shots!!!

I have had followers disappear before. I have also lost Serena once. It happened in a cave for a misc quest that came with DG. I just reloaded from before I lost her. When I have lost followers in a cave, I have not been able to get them back.

I have also noticed that she takes forever to walk back to the castle, so I now travel there before I release her.

It's only happened to me once with Aela. But I got her back by going back to the cave that I lost her in. Normally followers reapear when you enter a new cell, unless you've told them to wait.
